I had to move my computer from its original place. I disconnected the USB of my HPS20. When I connect the USB back to its original place and later when I turned my computer and when I tried to use the scanner, an error window pops up and it says that 'there's no connected scanner or communication has been lost with the scanner'. I uninstall the program and disconnected the USB, and as it says on the manual I installed first the program, restart my PC and then I connected the USB. Im using Windows XP. Any help its really appreciated!

Ricardo, I think you may need to go to hp website and look under S20 and download a Window XP Driver for the scanner to be use?? Just my guess as I am not great in technical stuff.

I for one went digital cause I got sick of that stupid scanner...lines showing up in slides, negs, prints etc. And I know I wasn't the only one with that problem.

Ricardo,
Did you try going back to a restore point prior to this happening? As simple as it sounds, it works most of the time.

N178UA / Qantas077,
Went to HP's website! Last time there I couldn't find the driver but this time I was lucky! It's working now!!! I'll save that driver in a safe place!!
ScottysAir,
Nope nothings wrong just had some Windows XP driver problems!
Dazed767,
After 3 months of using my D70 sure is another story compared to the slides. But having a slide in my hands its means and its much more than just having a file in my computer! And love trading and opening letters! It's like a X-MAS presents but even better.. also I get at least one 2 letters every month! That's also another cool part of this hobby!
JeffM,
I didn't tried the restore point because I think Windows XP gets messed when you unplug certain previous installed USB's.... for example if I disconnect my USB cable of the D70 and plug it later I doesn't have any problem but if I disconnect my HPS20 scann or my ScanDisk reader as I did then I have problems! But S20 it's back now I'll see if I can get my ScanDisk USB reader back!! Any help appreciated.......
More over Im seriously thinking on buying a new scanner... any recommendations?? Between 400usd....???
Thank you very much for everything!!!

Cool Cool and more COOL!! There is still an HP S20 scanner user on the a.net.
I still frequently use the HPS20 to scan my slides and negatives although most of my time is now with extracting files from my C750UZ digital camera.
I have had that problem before and I still get them time to time when I try and run it. There is a really easy solution to combat that problem.
Either close the HP scanning program, open the lid of the scanner and then close it. (You will hear the scanner rev up) then open the HP scanning program again and it should work.
OR:
You can close the program, unplug the scanner from the socket. (the three prong hole AC 60Hz yada yada, and then plug it back in). Then you open up the program again and it will detect the scanner.
I don't plan on ever going to DSLR no matter how tempting at any time soon. My airport lacks the frequent interest of heavy traffic to warrant such a huge investment. If it was like LAX or JFK then I'd make DSLR a priority. For now I am still using my 24 year old Nikon SLR for conventional mediums.
People like JOe, Justin, Chris, Craig.. moved on.. How dissapointing ROb still uses the old S20 version for the K64 scans.
