Composition wise - I like the Emirates 340, Swiss 330, and the Pakistan 743. The bluer sky (with little or no clouds) sets them off nicely and the high sun doesn't appear as noticeable. Good luck with those.

The others aren't as interesting to me and serve well as 'record' shots of what you saw. They're not bad, it's just that the conditions you photographed in were below average.

Can't comment on image quality.

PHOTO SCREENER

I agree with Terry, these shots are "making up the numbers" not a whole lot of creativity or effort shown. The weather wasn't great and the sun was too intense, pictures like this are easy with a D70, go out and challenge yourself.

Maybe it's just my screen, but a number of the shots look overexposed. And in some the sky doesn't look the right color...the sky in the NW747 shot is kinda green-ish on my screen. What the Futt was Futt doing with your edits? Big grin Seriously...now that you've got a DSLR, you should learn how to edit pictures yourself so that you can do things the way you want to do them.

I hope you remembered to change back your settings from the last time we went out spotting at LGA....remember that crappy overcast weather where I showed you how to overexpose shots? If you left your camera on +1 exposure compensation, your shots on a sunny day would not look so good.

Wish I could've been there for some of that action with you guys...I didn't get around to spotting in PHX over the weekend, but that's gonna change when I'm back there for the Fourth of July weekend.

yea, anyone got ideas? shooting on my ramp at LGA would be challenging, if i were allowed to do so...

josh, i did remember to chenge those settings. and i'm learning ps as we speak. problem is that i don't have a lot of time to myself.

to be honest, i just wanted to hear people's input on the pix. so far i've gathered that pix like these are not really desired by anet viewers. well, i still have a few tricks up my sleeves... Big grin

Are you shooting for yourself or just to get hits on A.net?

Those are good pics, for the weather you had. Honestly. You did the best you could of done in those sh**ty conditions. If you want "better" pics than that, put the camera away and wait for better lighting.

I'm guilty of the same problem myself...

That picture is 100% crap. I didn't take it to be proud of it. I had never seen that DC-9 before and I wanted a 'record' of it. Thought I'd upload it to A.net as well and it got accepted. But the fact that it got accepted doesn't mean it's a "good picture". The lighting sucks and that devalues the whole composition.

Sometimes "challenging yourself" means have patience, and take advantage when a good opportunity comes along (a rain shower followed by sun breaking out comes to mind) ....
