Great shot by THE air to air kid, Derek Hellmann, taken recently out at SNA. Puts those WN 737 shots to shame yet it seems like no one paid attention. Excellent work by Mr. Hellmann and done on Kodachrome to boot!

Actually it was shot on the parallel approach into SNA back in May.
At SNA, Cessnas and Pipers routinely shoot the approach to 19L while the airlines are lined up parallel on 19R. The fact that this was shot at around 130mm on a Kodachrome 64 slide speaks volumes to the other shots taken with digital cameras and cropped to look close.

Think about it, look at the building heights in the background. There aren't any buildings that tall on the approach to SNA on the eastern side.

And a third thing, how many people called Derek's shot a fake back in the early spring when he put up the Air China air to air climbing out of LAX? Well, he just auctioned slide that shot off in Switzerland for a nice chunk of change...

Regards
Jeffrey

Robin,

Not a problem, just showing how Derek's been creative this year in introducing new shot angles but yet others on this site end up getting a heck of a lot more credit!
