While cruising around the airport on the way too work last week I thought I saw what may be a nice angle for city shots.
I don't remember seeing anything from there before so if I am going over old ground sorry.
Under the M5 overpass next right next to the staff car park is a tight spot with a great view of the city between two light towers.
In the afternoon its not a bad spot for shots of departures off 34L with a city backdrop similar to the beach but a clear view of the city and no terminal in view.
Also the aircraft will normally be well and truly airborne and its also a different distance perspective on the aircraft..
These are my first two tries and didn't turn out to bad.

I tried to get a heavy UAL under centrepoint but they where to heavy and to low in frame but I think it would make a pretty awesome shot with the jumbo framed under the buildings and lots of heat blurrrrrr!
The shot is not easy between the two light towers and you need 300mm at least and a fair bit of luck.
Hopefully I will see you over there at some point.
Darren

Nice shots Darren. I love the heat wash in the upper photo.
Hopefully some day Boeing will send me down there to work. "Work" in Australia. It doesn't seem like it could be considered work.

Excellent work Darren. When I get my new lens, I'll give that a try.
Btw, we haven't caught up for ages. Maybe we should head out there one afternoon.

Sounds like a great idea and love to hear first hand about Europe.
What are you buying?
A 70-200 or a 100-400??
Are you out there Sun?
I finish at 12 and will head over if you are heading there later in the arvo after 3.
I have been meaning to hit the obs deck before it starts getting to warm.
Look forward to it.
Darren
