Hello,
I will be in MAD in a conference in late September and am currently thinking to arrive one day earlier do do some photography at Barajas. Thanks to the search function I found a description of a good place: http://www.airliners.net/discussions/aviation_photography/read.main/114029/6/ ,
but was wondering about two things:
1) How is the situation now in Madrid after the terrorist attacks earlier this year? Does the police cause headache to people standing at the airport fence and taking photos or is this still OK? I also read somewhere that this "Puente de Barajas site" is closed now?
2) As I understand the spot mentioned above is/was good for taxi pictures. Is it also possible from any place to get a good view on the action, i.e. arcraft taking off or landing? NB I will have no car ...

I was at MAD a couple of days ago with another Airliners.net member, and since we didn't have all that much time, we decided to stay in the bar in T2, at the end of the 'Bulevard Barajas'. It's quite good, especially in the afternoon when the sun is fully behind you...
Try to sit somewhere at the left side of the bar, in front of the taxiway that leads to T2 in front of you. There you have the most open space to take pics, but mind all the 'ramp rats' and their buses, trolleys etc...
