So i guess i am griping but i thought that i did my self screening and asked myself:

1) Is this special?
Yes; not everyone gets this shot and there is none like this in database. These were taken inside the high security (I have NASA security clearance) Orbital Processing Facility at KSC.
2) Is it relevant to airliners.net
yes; it is the airliner of the future
3) Quality of picture
Not the greatest but not bad
4) Angle
Shot from underneath which is very unique as it clearly shows the tile system which is intergral to the shuttle success; also gives a good view of surroundings

5) I quite clearly explained the tech/spech relevance in the comment box.

the second shot i thought might get rejected for "bad people" but what the hell....

I think they are very interesting shots and just bad luck that airliners.net isn't interested, it happens often...

Never saw a Space Shuttle from this angle. You have more?

Kind regards,
Erwin

If my opinion counts, I agree for 'badmotiv' in both photos. No matter is the shuttle the pics aren't with a subject well defined. What is important in the pictures? This problem is more visible in the second photo..

Just my 2 cents..

They're very interesting pictures but in their own domain, not here, what does it matters you having "NASA security clearance"? Does it makes these photos more special  Confused

1) I meant that to indicate that these photos are legit and not taken surreptiously. I was just clarifying how i came to take those pics...Anbody familiar with such installations know the layers of security approval required to get to photograph in areas like this. This is not your average location or vehicle.

2) Does this make it special?...well since not many people get access in there...YES!

Hope that clarifys your questions.

From the pure photography point of view (that's what matters here) NO, it does not make it special. We're "judging" photos, not how they're made, it may sound cruel but that's what really matters, the final image.

Suresh,

I like the first one quite a bit. Keep trying, I'm sure many of us will enjoy your privileged access.

"From the pure photography point of view (that's what matters here) NO, it does not make it special."

LOL... a pure photography point of view? Give me a break Luis, pure photography is NOT what matters here, you should know better then that. But I will admit it gave me a laugh reading it.

Appeal if you don't agree.

The second one has no chance whatsoever though.

hhehe..thanks for your opinions...I realize the moment the shot is not a full frame sideshot the acceptance is debatable. I will try to get Discovery full frame sideshot with one pixel clearance on both ends next time... Wink/being sarcastic Screw the new angles.

JeffM..thanks!

Erwin,

Here are some more shots. Enjoy. There are more and i will give you a link when i get those up.

Whether they make it in or not, thanks for posting them and for the photographic update on the status of the program.

I am anxious to see that bird safely fly again!

To tell you the truth i find the first shot more interesting than some of the A380 shots we have been bombarded with over the last 12 months.
