This angle is even better than the last one where it was climbing off the runway. Something about the funky angle of the plane & runway....but this with the street under it, wow, it doesn't get any better than this!

In a flying Cessna.....and its pin sharp too!

Keep up the good work!

Amazing, absolutely amazing stuff Dan- these shots and Sam's shots and Derek's shots really take this hobby to an all new level, a level which will probably never be topped.

Wow, that shot is awesome.

Daniel, can you tell us a bit about the LAX VFR corridor? Is it anything like the New York one where the airspace is cut out and no communication is required, or do you talk to LAX tower while passing by?

Nick

Hi to all,

The photo is spectacular.
Can someone tell me what lens was used?
I sometimes fly in a Robin DR400 around Nice and Cannes (France) and i'd like to try (to try...) catching a flying plane from such an angle.
Once again, congratulations to Daniel for this shot.
Best regards
Karine

I think for his next big feat Daniel should arrange a parallel flight path, maintaining visual seperation and shoot the planes as they are making their turn. After they take off they go like a few miles and then turn, sometimes a 180 if they are headed east and it would be an incredible sight to see a turning aircraft air-to-air.

Great shot. Little bit oversharpened, though, and I say that as someone who's gone nuts on people for calling that on photos in other threads (just because a photo's sharp doesn't mean it's over-sharpened). I don't want to make too much of it because it is definitely a fantastic shot but there are some obvious sharpening artifacts on high-contrast edges in this photo. Great work on the photo itself, though. Daniel's got a career ahead of him, I think  Smile

Love that old JAL livery...

Thanks for your nice comments. I'm glad you like my picture as much as I do. I was delighted to see it is editors choice, something I always wanted for one of my pictures.
Again I used my 100-400 IS L lens, which is just perfect for this kind of shot.

@Goboeing
You need the clearance of SoCal approach for the transition through this special airspace.

A big thank you again to D. and D. for making this all possible!!

Daniel
