I’m about to buy my first SLR camera and lens, would the Canon EOS (30) Elan7E camera & Canon EF 75-300 f/4.0-5.6 IS USM lens be ok? Went thru some post and figured the setup. I want to keep the cost under $1,000 USD. I would appreciate your comments about the setup and changes you would make. Need suggestions from the dealers you buy from over the Internet also.

Well, I bought the Canon EOS 30 about 2 weeks ago. Its' a superb camera. I use it with my Canon 28-80 and 75-300 USM and a Tamron 28-200.

The only thing is, that the camera has so many possibilities, that you can get lost....  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I bought a Canon EOS 30 for some months ago.
It's like Gerardo said a superb camera with a lot of functions. I use a 28-90 mm USM together with a 75-300 mm IS USM, the last mention lens is just great, you can't fail with the photography...extreme sharpness!

Sounds like a pretty good setup. If you are planning to upload pics here, I would save some money for a decent slide scanner.

Thanks for the comments in this topic and other post. I wanted to go cheaper on this, but after reading past post I figured this combination out. You are right about the scanner; mine is four years old and needs replacing. Someone else has started a new topic on the scanner question, and I'm waiting for answers there and checking past post.

I'm also playing with the idea to buy a Canon EOS 30. How about the price in the US? Here in Spain its 586,-USD (body only).

Can somebody recommend a good/serious internet site where they sell this camera?

Thanks

The web sites in the USA mentioned most in the photography forum I've come across are cameraworld.com and bhphotovideo.com.
