Hey everyone. I was gonna go to LGA for kids day this Saturday (the 18th) but it got cancelled so now I must move my travel dates to LGA to another date. I picked the 2nd because I wanna go ASAP but was recommended by Brian Futterman not to pick the 25th. So the next best day is the 2nd. I'm only coming for that day and plan on spending the whole day at LGA only. Last time I went up to LGA for the day was on a Monday (August 2nd) and many people had to work and couldn't come but told me they could if it was a Saturday. Now is the chance for all those people who told me that to meet up for spotting! Please respond ASAP as I need to change these dates soon. How bout it everyone? Cancidas? BigPhilNYC? Futterman? Any LGA spotting crews, please join up! Thanks!

-Justin

Justin,

Some friendly advice from someone who spends 40-60 hours a week at LGA (I work there) Saturday is by far the slowest day of the week at LGA both for traffic and interesting traffic. For example on Monday both WS and SG start service but neither one of their afternoon flights operate on Saturdays, the same is true of Sunday morning. Have fun and good luck Justin

Sounds good Justin, for now I have nothing planned for that weekend. I should be there, unless work related travel comes up before that.

cheers

I'm not sure about the first available weekend in October.

The thign about spotting trips is that most of us involved "plan" out these trips very spontaneously, almost to the last minute. It all depends on the weather and the runway configurations, and that's something that you often can't plan much in advance, especially a month or more.

Many of us have work and jobs and it's tough to commit to a time.

So as for October, I won't know until days before at the earliest.

Phil, fair enough. As far as Windowseat and PIA747SV747 are concerned, I'm up for meeting up with you all. Although, and even though I don't live in NYC, I've heard that it is near to impossible to do LGA and JFK in the same day. I'd rather stick to LGA for the whole day rather than LGA for a few hours, JFK for a few hours and several hours commuting. No thanks. So for now we'll plan for October 2nd since BigPhilNYC and Cancidas pretty much tied up all next month. Hopefully Futterman can come.

Don't get me wrong, I'm dying to go out as much as I can. I lov meeting new folks in the hobby and strengthening our numbers as a group of enthusiasts.

Time is jsut a variable that I have trouble with.

Hope to see you guys out there soon!

Like Phil, I wish I could give you a definite date. It really is all up in the air--no pun intended--and things tend to happen spur of the moment.

I'm sitting at work one Friday, and realize I forgot to turn my cell phone off when it rings. I run outside and it's Josh Akbar.

"What're you doing this weeked?"
"Not much. What's up?"
"I was thinking of going out this weekend. How do the airports starting around...8...sound?"
"Good by me. I'll run it by the parents and get back to you in a bit."

Simple as that. Granted, you're 1,000 miles away, but here's an idea: Try planning something with Cederholm, so you'd at least be with him for a whole day of genuine spotting. Set it around your schedule, and drop a line when the date nears to see if any locals will be around.

Brian

BTW, JFK-LGA and visa versa is no more than a 15 minute drive. Traffic pending.

What the FUTT?

Since I dont live very far away.. I just need to know like 1 day in advance and then I can make it for a couple of hours! It'd be interesting meeting the NYC spotters for the first time.. for I have never met with any of them before!

I think I should be able to make it also. Begining to Mid - October sounds the good to me. I might even be able to stay in the city for another days worth.
