How does he do this?  Wow!

I've been lugging my 300D and 70-200mm IS to work for 6 months now and only gotten one air to air photo that I can brag about. And that was the one good picture from about 200 I shot of that aircraft.

Please share at least some of your photographic secrets.  Big thumbs up

Cheers,

Siggi Ben  Smile

"I wonder what lens he was using?"

I asked Bailey the other day and I hope he doesn't mind me answering. He uses a Canon 10D and a 100-400mm IS lens. I'm not sure if it is what he used here, but I bet it was. AWESOME shot Bailey. Congrats on 500.  Big thumbs up

Keep in mind that Bailey's Average Views is 4,438! In order for him to rank, he needs 500 shots int eh d/b, so when he actually hits that mark, he will be the top average hits man on this site. And well deserved!

When it comes to specialty shots, Bailey owns contrails and air-to-air, hands down.

Those shots may look easy but are in fact very difficult to take. The thick slanted cockpit windows tend to fool the autofocus and the planes come at you very fast (closing speed of about 1km in 2,5 secs).
You need a lot of light and a lot of talent to consistently shoot pictures like that. Congratulations on a job well done.

Indeed an amazing shot! Why does everyone keep asking what he used as equipment?! If you would read the remark, it doesn't get much clearer:

Canon 1DmkII Canon 28-300L 1/1000 F7.1 ISO 100

Sebastian Big grin
