Morning all,

I currently own a Sigma 70-200 F2.8 EX HSM and am very happy with the lens but now want more reach.

Does anyone have ny experience of the lens with the 1.4x Teleconvertor? Whats the quality like?

I now they are worlds apart but I am either considering the 1.4x Teleconvertor or a Conon EF 100-400 F4.5-5.6 L UIS.

Any advice would be gratefully received, my local store has just got in a 100-400 for a reasonable price of £1107.

Which way should I go?

Regards Simon

ciao,

as allready mentioned in another thread , I had extremly good results with a 2x converter on the Sigma 110 - 300 2.8 HSM ..... , so guess shouldnt be a prob with the 70 - 200 HSM either ...

Simon,

I fine the 1.4 works very well with the 70-200 but keep away from the 2x as it makes the images very soft at the upper ends of the zoom.

I use both TC's on the 70-200 Sigma. Very happy with the 1.4 and for its price its an excellent TC.

The 2x TC is much more difficult. It makes pictures soft so you have to stay around f8 or higher to save some sharpness.

Kind regards,
Erwin

I don't even have a problem when the 70-200 is connected on a 2x and a 1.4x TC all together at the same time.

Cheers,
Willem
