Another Spotting Site Is Gone! TFS

Another spotting site is gone! Sad
This time a very famous small hill at TFS where photos like

has been levelled by local airport authorities. We are trying to get support by all spotters to convince the local authorities we are no harm.

What a bunch of a**holes! I mean, what harm is there in folks standing by with cameras just trying to enjoy their hobby--their passion in some cases? Come on...I have nothing against local authorities coming over to me and asking what I am doing. I don't even care if they gave me the third degree interrogation, but I would rather answer a couple dozen questions than have them just up and take away the one thing that we love. It's sh*t, and I can't stand it anymore!

Sorry...I couldn't resist. It just chaps my a** when politics and "policies" get in the way of a harmless hobby. Keep spotting, my fellow aviation fanatics! Big grin

FFS, what excuse is it this time, terrorists again or "wheelchair" access, come on Airport authorities get your priorities right were NOT the enemy and if anything we "deter" the enemy by actually being around the airport and looking out for you.

I have signed your petition, Dcrusafon, and I agree wholeheartedly with you. I am primarily a ship enthusiast (with an interest in airliners [of course!]), and we get the same sort of hassles that aircraft enthusiasts do - treated as potential criminals or terrorists by the "powers-that-be", with photo sites and vantage points fenced off, etc.

Quite often the excuse given is not "security" but "health and safety" as the authorities are terrified of litigation in the event of so much as a stubbed toe - thanks to the ambulance chasing lawyers so prevalent now.

SnowJ - well said! I too am happy to answer any questions and to have my bag/car searched as well as sign any disclaimer in the event of injury just so I can persue my interests.

Absolutely, Faith. I was recently confronted by LHR airport police out at the field off the end of 09L. Granted they were very nice and laid back, but they still made me leave. I really hate it when they do that. LOL

Noticed that the other week when I was in TFS. Still, if your flying out of TFS then they have a decent viewing area in the departure lounge where you have a view over the apron. It's inside though

I've visited the site and I signed, answered, written and whatever else can be done there. It is a pity and a shame these things happen, when we are the first ones interested in keeping "our places" tidy and safe.
