I hate to post another one of these threads but...

I just got an email from a web developer at Virgin Blue requesting the use of this photo on their fleet page:

I've taken a look at the pricing guide website that is usually recommended on this forum and it says nothing about website usage. How much do I charge?

Thanks in advance,

a bunch of us all got emails from DJ a while back with regards to them wanting to use our photo's, we all submitted prices and none of us heard back.

interesting to see this time around, maybe a few hundred i'd guess.

Tell them they can have full commercial use of the photo and charge them accordingly, when they say they just want to use it for the website, lower the price.

I still don't have a sense of an appropriate price for this... What would I charge for full commercial usage?

Doesnt it show it in the pricing guide? I just gave a company much smaller than Virgin Blue full commercial use of a photo and got $200 US.

Maybe I'm missing it but I can't see any full commercial use price. Are we both talking about the same website (http://photographersindex.com/stockprice.htm)?

Yes we were talking about the same site, I was mistaken it doesnt show it. We can all give you tips, but, in the end, its you that has to decide how much you want to ask. You can undercut the industry and ask for $10 for an easy sale (not recommended but used by some folks) or you can ask for $100+ dollars to get yours.

I gave him my price but believe it or not, he wanted the photo for free (no more than a credit below the photo).  Insane I had to refuse, so if anyone else gets a request from DJ, don't give them the photo for free!  Big grin

Thanks for your help, guys.

Exactly. The problem is you will see many people give away photos just to see their name printed in publications.

DJ is always like that, we're still trying to find out who's photo they used a few months back, they never want to pay! none of the 10 who were contacted that submitted prices heard back from them.

cheeky sods.
