I told Paul that the first one looked like it had been neatimage'd but he said it had not. i dont know why it looks that way.

And the second one does not look as smudged, perhaps could it be the hint of blue color cast near the top on the grass?

These are IMO very good quality photos - the runway numbers are visible, all the hangars etc are clear, hell there's even a plane on the runway in the top one. What more does airliners.net want from airport overviews??????

I'm sorry fellas, but the quality of these two pics aren't even close to a.net standards. I know you don't want to hear that, and you'll be emailing Johan with cancel this and fire him etc etc and thats fine, but to see a post like this, questioning these rejections, and then having people say things like "These are IMO very good quality photos" is beyond what I can take and not respond.

The first shot looks like a seperate layer was created, the runways sharpened to death, and then overlayed over the first layer, which is soft in some places and completely out of focus in others.

The second shot looks like it was painted by Raffaello Santi. The shot is badly out of focus, and is oversaturated with blue (it looks like a smurf village).

It seems to be that criticising every rejection is becoming de rigueur.

Look OK I don't usually reply to this but I think I will.

First don't assume that I will email Johan. I have NEVER done this and also you assume that I know how to create differant layers in photoshop.

And finally you said that criticising every rejections is becoming de rigueur as far as I know it still says in the rejection email that I can come in here and get friendly advise. please don't assme again that I meant anything about the question orginally posted I was just curious as to why they were rejected.

and finally this response by click happy is totally un professional.

Hey dude, I'm entitled to my opinion as well. Paul wanted some opinions and I gave mine. People get paid hundreds to ride in a Cessna with the window open and take overview pictures from pre-determined angles for paying clients. Paul was shooting thru the window of an inflight 747 with no input as to flight plan, photo angles, or even window condition. There's a little bit of difference. It ain't gonna be absolute perfection.

I see a road on the top of the first one that is out of focus, and i see smudges in the dirt areas of the second one alog with a hint of blueish tint in the upper part of the second one. Maybe it can be fixed, I dont know, but my original opinion still stands.

Another factor should be the subject of the photo. I thought a.net had more leeway on planes & airports which aren't already on the database. This would have made a much more interesting addition to the database than yet another boring overview of Midway....which there's 17 of already.

Take a look at the shots you have accepted (plenty of good ones) and then take a look at these rejections. Or other succesful uploads of other airport overview shots. The quality of these just isn't there.

A photographer of your experience, and uploading success (1,000 + photos) should be able to see that, hands down, no questions asked.

In response to me being "un professional" I will close with this. You asked for opinions, I gave you mine. I'm not trying to be harsh. I'm a straight shooter, ask anyone who knows me. But im honest, even if it does hurt your feelings.

Paul, why not post up the original files so that we can take a look at them? I can give you access to my web server if you need space to host them.

Bruce, have a look at the left 1/3 of the top picture (the UGN shot). Nothing is in focus, and there is a black area on the lower left corner, prob. from the window frame.

The upper 1/3 of the second shot is heavily miscolored, and also looks to be out of focus.

Perhaps the window was very dirty, or the angle caused the shot to be out of focus.
