Hey Guys,

I had a word with Martin Aves about a LHR Spotting group...for example like Flo's TCAS.
Anyways..he said shoot a message on the forums about it...So I was wondering if any of you'd be interested.

I'll be getting my new D70 over the Christmas period and so therefore will be making more trips to the airport to do spotting.
1. My mum works at Cardinal Point...the red building on your right when landing on 27R

I was just interested to see if anybody would be interested in something like this?

Hmmmm interesting Idea I used to be one of the Regulars till recently think there are enough Airneters to form an Airnet LHR group if that's what you're idea is?

Hey Lurch,

Yeh...I think there are enough aneters for a LHR Group. That is my idea just to confirm.
I've seen plenty of photo's and regulars for LHR.

Nice idea Mike, I'll certainly be willing to join such a group. Admittedly, living down here in Plymouth has meant I haven`t been to LHR for a couple of months now, but I will be heading up there next Monday to fly LHR-FRA-BCN and 'christen' my 300D with some real action. Big grin A search through the database should give you an idea who the regulars are,

Hey Dan,

Have a nice trip...so if an LHR group was formed...you certainly would be willing to join in?
Yep..I'm just interested to see if people are willing to do something like this and if so...perhaps we could come to some arrangements to form one.
I'll keep checking back and seeing who the regulars at LHR are.

Enjoy your trip and take shots!

As for me, Ill give it a thought.

What do you mean by a group....

Do you mean get togethers etc etc as this is always painfully hard as (1) the weather at LHR is always so difficult to confirm in advance. And (2) most of the regular A.Net LHR photogs could be anywhere on a given day if the weather for once is good.....

Or are you talking about setting up a group who whould try to cover whats going on at LHR. So when a poto is downloaded to A.Net it would say (photogs name) + LHRPHOTO GROUP for example ????

Like Simon Nicholls let me know in a bit more detail what you mean and i will think about it  Smile

I'm talking about the second idea you were explaining. For example..TCAS

So we set up a group that covers the LHR area.

Let me explain a little better.

For example....we create a group of anet members...we cover the area of LHR so that when you submit the photo's you have for example *Name* then - LHRspotters or something like that.

We organize days when we can all visit etc...a big group of LHR spotters that are under one group name.

Also...if I didnt accept germans...I can count myself out :P
I'm not one for not accepting people because of nationality or race..this is meant to be an equal world with equal opportunites. Everyone is welcome.

I hope I have enlightened this a litte more.

All these ideas are things that we need...if anybody else is willing to help and join in...please let us know.
So Paul..can we count you in?

Any more ideas and suggestions are most welcome!

Well..I havent had a definate response from Martin yet...so maybe who knows him can give him a bell..if not I'll let him know about the topic.

I hope everyone has got information they wanted. Judging by this topic a few people are interested and I'm glad to see that.
If you need more information..please dont hesitate to ask...it would be great to have a crew member with us as well.
Im very willing to pitch in to have some webspace...perhaps we could find someone who would be willing to manage a site for us from anet..
It would be great to have a few more people so that we can really start baking the cake.

I think it is an interesting idea, but I am not sure I'd want to get involved in a spotting group. If it were called an "Photo" group - that would be a different idea.

I for one would be interested in meeting other people active around LHR - not that I get there that often any more. Also of interest would be getting one of the experienced members - or even London based A.net Screener crew - to do training sessions in Photoshop and processing. Taking a photo is one thing, but these days the biggest challenge seems to be post processing.

Now - on the other hand - I could host such an event in my offices at Pinewood Studios if there were enough interest. It's only 10 minutes by car from Heathrow - and would be an interesting exercise. I think with all the people changing over to digital, it could be a most worthwhile exercise.

Also, I am a reseller ISP - in other words I can provide a webspace, broadband and domain names at a very cheap price if anyone is interested.

Hi Thowman,

You work at Pinewood...awesome...maybe you could enlighten me as to what the Victorian Style building set is for then Big grin
I'm not quite sure if it should be called a photo group or spotting group. But..as you may have read...its just proposals and ideas for the moment.

I do like the idea of Photoshop training sessions for example...interesting and I'm sure as you say very worthwhile.
Obviously...it would be about aviation photography so as to why I suggested "Spotting" however I do see your point of view on that matter.

It was merely a suggestion and still has a long way to go...but as I explained before...input and suggestions are still the basis of great things.
Had newton not had the idea about sitting under an apple tree for example :-P

Thank you for your input..it is greatly appreciated.
Any other ideas, comments or suggestions?

Ok..I was not aware that there was already an "LHR Spotting Group"

Thank you for pointing this out. If there are any more ideas on names for the group please do mention them.
I do like the LHR Photo Group however I also like the idea for example like TCAS where its the name of a group and also the abbreviation for another aviation term. Quite clever I must admit.
Any members of the crew that are willing to participate in this?

Off topic - but the victorian set is for the remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - starring Johnny Depp and directed by Tim Burton. Have had their trailers outside my window for the last 2 weeks.

LHR Photo Group would be a good start. Spotting is something completely different.
