I'm getting ready to buy a Canon Rebel/300D with a black body. Yes I understand that if I'm paying that much for a camera why not save for a 20D or something of higher quality (better body that's not plastic) but I'm not looking to spend so much b/c I'm not going to be doing this professionally and I have used the Rebel before and am comferable with how it performs. This BUSY stuff is something that I have never dealt with. Our school has something like 10 of these cameras, all varying in age, and I have never had this issue. I think 10 is my top number of constant shooting during a soccer game.

My only issue is what type of lense to buy. I'm hoping that someone who is a fellow SFO spotter can tell me what I would need to get a good shot of 28's from the park..... Would a 28-300mm f/3.8-6.3 AF Zoom do the job our would I have to hike it up to a 135-400mm f/4.5-5.6 APO AF Zoom? The latter requiring a stand. What type of lense would it take to get the zoom range of these following photos?;

Canon 100-400 will do the trick. The 70-200mm f/2.8 with a 1.4x TC should as well.

I also own the 300D and this xmas will be purchasing the 70-200mm f/2.8 with a 1.4x TC from B&H.

Good luck.

This gives you an idea what you need. I would go with your 135-400mm set up.

Then for distances like runway 10 stick with the 300mm? I think it wouldn't hurt to get both.

Thanks again.
