I'm looking to buy a "new" scanner, possibly one that does Prints/Slides/Negs. I'm looking to stay under $250 hopefully. If anybody here is trying to get any scanners off their hands, it would have a good home, please post or email me. Thanks.

250 pounds will buy you a nice new flatbed, or a simple slide scanner (one without all the bells and whistles, but with reasonable quality nonetheless).
Jessops lists 4 slide/neg scanners under 300 pounds, 3 of them under 200. I have the 1800U (the simplest) and while I may replace it with a Nikon or Minolta when I have the funds because of the extra features (like motorised transport, automatic removal of smudges and scratches) it does make good scans.
11 flatbeds under 300 pounds, and 5 combis (print and film both).

Note that 250 British Pounds is the same as 500 US Dollars, which is what Dazed767 was asking about.
You might want to try eBay and similar sites. When I was shopping, I noticed that uBid http://www.ubid.com often had new Acer ScanWit 2720S film scanners. The auctions usually ended between $200 and $300. Brand new, the cheapest I found the 2720S was $322 from eCost, using mySimon http://www.mysimon.com to compare prices.
Patience can pay off. I was able to grab a Minolta Dimage Scan Dual off eBay for a Buy It Now price of $125. It's currently en route to my apartment.
You can also get the Pacific Image PrimeFilm 1800U film scanner for under $200 new, but the person I know who has one didn't recommend it.
