Likely only going to be there on Friday night for the slide show/auction as well as Saturday morning...work schedule for January has me working the Wed-Monday that week...will help out with the auction as normal, and there's a good chance that something's going to be put together in Nick Mills' honor, pending word from Vicki, his wife.

some of us digi mons still collect slides
You mean that some former slide guys who shoot digital still collect slides? That I find rare these days the again us pure slide guys are a rare breed. I guess one day down the road I will be forced to cheat when slides disappear.

Sure...I can think of quite a few slide guys that are dabbling in digital on the side to supplement the slide hobby. I've recently added a 20D to my camera collection for the sole purpose of magazine shots...I'd grown tired of shooting something hot and being told by editors 10 days later when the slides returned that "it's nice, but I already have it"...and yes, once the cardboard mounts disappear, there's no way I wouldn't still enjoy taking pics of planes, just it'll have to be of a different medium.
What a few of us have talked about is the future of these slide conventions. Eddy's show is the first to welcome the digital photographers as it's always been about getting together with friends to spend some sunny days out at the end of the runway. It's what brought me down to MIA in 1994 for my first convention and I've only missed one since. Slide conventions will eventually turn into slide shows centered around a weekend of shooting and being with our friends.
Cheers!
Jeffrey

Looks like I'll be going this year, the wedding we were to attend that weekend has been canceled................to bad for the couple but great for me.
Brick,
What are your hotel plans, care to share a room? Let me know.
LGBPhotos,
Jr. stop sounding like such a grump all the time. As you know I shoot a lot with my 10D, but I still shoot ramp shots with K64 and collect slides and photos. It doesn't matter the format you utilize to take photos, it's a photographic record of the aircraft and I'd rather have a nice digital or print photo than nothing at all because the lighting conditions were to poor for K64.
Remember this is a hobby and a great way to meet fellow photographers and enthusiasts, don't put people down for shooting digital. A number of the best and most experienced slide shooters have come to find the digital world a great complement to their slide shooting.

I am not a grump all the time and if anyone can't take a little teasing or taunting then that is not my problem. I am not putting people down for shooting digital, I never said that people who shoot digital suck or are bad photographers. I just think that shooting digital is cheating because you can shoot something half frame, crop it and make people think you shot it full frame..........can't do that with slides or prints or atleast not as easily.

When Kodak stops making slides, i'm switching to Fuji, when Fuji stops and no one else makes 'em, i'll be 100% digital, but hopefully that will never ever happen.
