I searched the forums and came up empty for this topic but I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion for spotting locations out at MCO in Orlando?

hahahahaha....hahaha.......ha....u serious?

ah just kidding....i have heard from many a local around there that it sucks for spotting....they closed the frontage road location a while back and from what i hear if you want to be official you have to go through a whole bunch of paperwork BS and even then you can only stick around on the parking garage....alright for spotting i guess but for photos its pretty much useless...

i don't know much about the situation lately but a lot of the domestic stuff you can get at TPA as well and they're a lot friendlier about it over there....

i'm sure one of the locals will chime in and let you know more about the situation

good luck
jd

MCO is my home airport... just search up photos for MCO and you'll see 75% of the most recent uploads for the first 5-6 pages are all MY photos. I have driven around that airport millions of times and scouted out spots. I've seen new spots develop and I've seen new spots disappear due to security. When I first started shooting at MCO, I did the paperwork BS and it was a waste of time. To shoot from the garage, You'd need a 1000mm lens, no doubt. The only shot I've ever gotten from the garage is this:

I have developed a 3 page list of spots and directions on how to get to them starting from the central main terminal. However, I will not post the spots on this forum due to the suspicion that MCO's authorities monitor this site. However, email me and I'll help you out, Diamondguy. Are u coming down here anytime soon? I'd be happy to show you around. Granted, none of the locations are overly exciting or even extremely close like Frontage Rd was but if you have a decent size telephoto, you'll be good to go. email me soon. TTYL

Times have changed for sure. When MCO was my "home airport" back in the mid-90's (and before that in the late 80's) shooting was excellent. There were plenty of spots and you were never hassled by security. It's too bad, MCO has a great list of interesting visitors now (back then also).

MCO/SFB I don't really bother with anymore, and if I do it's to go out and get something rare that's coming in or I'll spend an hour or so out there. They don't like us out there around the fence, so I've been told by GOAA.

TPA/FLL/MIA is heaven on a perfect day, especially this time of year.

MCO is a lot harder now, there are some spots out there, but you constanly have to be on the guard for airport ops or opd.

Dazed767, what good places are there in TPA to spot? I live there and can't find any good places.

Is it legal to spot from the parking garage though?

It isn't ILLEGAL to spot anywhere Bravo, unless there are no parking signs or unless your hop a fence.  Big thumbs up If you are on public roads or in a public parking garage which you are paying for, your not doing anything illegal, no matter what the cops try to say!

Also, there are many more spots than just the ones Dazed Mentioned:

Of course the garage:

Economy Parking Lot. Go up to the fence are the far east side. A little risky but its amazingly close and great for shots:

You have some great shots Justin. How often do you spot in TPA?

Thanks Ben! I try to make it down there about once a month but that sometimes doesn't happen. It also depends on weather. I only come down when its suppose to be really nice. Its 106.7 miles from my driveway in northwest Orlando to the 9th floor parking garage at TPA so its a bit of a distance. But I love coming to TPA. Its a great airport. If you wanna, you can join up with me and another friend next time I'm down which might be sometime in Jan. I dunno yet. I'll let u know
