Hi guys, I need some quick info. I just got a Sigma 17-35 DG HSM f2.8-4for xmas and now I got another 500 euros cash for xmas and I could upgrade that lens to a Canon L 17-40 f4 for 250 euros cash. Good deal? Bad deal? Is it worth it? Thanks in advance!

Why don't you start shooting with it first and see if it let's you down in some way ? You might want to use the money for a lens of different focal length.

I'm the new owner of a 17-40mm f/4L and I can say that I am very happy with it so far, sharpness is excellent and colors are beautiful. The 17-40 is a very very popular lens, you ccan't go wrong with it.

On the other hand I've never shot with a sigma but it seems its rating is a lot less than the Canon 17-40, have a look http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/showproduct.php?product=95&sort=7&thecat=29

And the 17-40 review to compare http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/showproduct.php?product=3&sort=7&thecat=27

The Sigma review mentioned above is for the older model, not the newer 17-35mm f/2.8-4 EX DG Aspherical HSM. He stated that he received the DG lens which I believe is relatively new. I read somewhere that this is an improved version.
