Panasonic FZ20, Where To Buy?

I've decided to invest in the Panasonic Lumix FZ20, but now that have the money, I'm not sure where to purchase it from.

I've checked out Nomatica.com as they seemed to have quite low prices, but I read that several had experienced trouble with this company. Extra charges, and slow delivery to name a few.

As I live in Norway, it would perhaps be best for me to order from a company not too far away. I.e. ordering the camera from America or Japan would not be a good idea, am I right?

So can anyone reccomend a smart place to buy this camera? Thanks in advance.  Smile

I know i am an ignorant, do you use the euro currency in Norway? If you do, it could be a good idea to check the camera in any online american shop now that rate €-$ is so favorable. However you may be forced to pay customs fees, and if you have problems with the camera i don't know if the warranty will cover you outside the USA.

Hope this helps.

With exchange etc it may not be worthwhile, but I bought mine from www.thecamerastore.com....they were the cheapest around including an extra battery and the rebate.

Good luck...it is a great camera.

I purchased this camera a few months ago. Great choice!

Now the problem I faced when I went price shopping were the price differences! I paid $539 here at a local store (circuitcity.com). When I looked for better prices online, I found some for $200-300 but they had the international warranty which was only 90 days I believe, and if you wanted the US warranty then you would have to pay the full price of around $539.

That is what I found out. Also, see if Panasonic has any rebates and see if there are any restrictions to where you must purchase it so you can use the rebate. For example, I bought mine and it came with a rebate for a free case and extra battery!

Goodluck!

Extra batteries would be nice. I read that they only last for two hours if the camera is on for a long time. That might be a problem for a spotting day, where I could end up spending more than an hour...

BTW, I have another question for those of you who own a Panasonic FZ20: While filming with the camera, is it possible to zoom in or out, or is it fixed?

I have never had a problem with the battery losing charge quickly on me. Like yourself, I have gone spotting for 2+ hours as well. I just always keep my batteries in the charger at home until I need them.

When you say filming, I think you mean motion video. But if that is the case than yes you're right. You set the zoom before hand, than when you start filming, than you are stuck with the zoom.

Gabriel

I have purchased three cameras from www.cameras2u.com in the last 12 months for myself and family. They are based in the UK (not sure if that is any good for you in Norway). I've never had a problem and I recommend them. Just received my FZ-20 from them today, delivered the day after it was ordered. They are very quick and the prices are among the cheapest (£350 for the FZ-20, including UK delivery).

Best regards,

Jim

Erm, is this thing on?

Thanks alot for your help everyone. I have now decided to buy it in a shop here, as it (to me) seems like the safest thing to do. I also get it for an acceptable price at around £500 all expences paid.

I'm ordering it next week. Looking forward to it like a child waiting for christmas... Big grin

Again, thanks for contributing.  Smile
