I just got rejection for this photo that I took 2 days ago, the reason is badmotiv. Can any of you guys give me some idea what makes this photo badmotiv and if there is any way I can re-edit it and make it to the DB? Thx in advance.

Not to be harsh, but it was probably rejected because it's a picture of a parking lot with a control tower in the distance and not a plane in sight. The only possible thing would be to crop in to the tower (if that's even feasible).

Thx US333, appreciated that.

Hey Jay,

What did the email say? It usually gives a reason for rejection? I hope that from the screeners comments you can understand what "we" are looking for in a picture?

Let me know, and you can always email me any questions as well  Wink/being sarcastic

Hi Grant, this picture was rejected as badmotiv, and the emails says that:
_______________________________________________
The photos were of low esthetic qualities - bad angle, included
window reflections (for shots taken through glass such as terminal windows),
pictured just a part of an aircraft (with no motivation, like a special
sticker, damage etc., for doing so), out of focus, distracting or
obstructing objects in the foreground or similar (this is especially true
for gate shots which are very difficult to get accepted due to their common
nature and the large amount of ancilliary equipment which usually surrounds
the aircraft) or did not picture an aircraft or anything sufficiently
related to aviation at all. Finally, you might read this because your camera
displays the date in the lower right corner of the image. If so, please
disable that feature in the future.
_______________________________________________

I guess the reason would likely to be "did not picture an aircraft"?  Confused but i was intended to take a terminal shot.

Any help is appreciated, Grant.  Wink/being sarcastic

Jay,

I guess the screener didn't find the mentioned photo suitable for the data base, I have to admit I love this photo, it might just be because YYZ is my home airport but i did go and buy the 17-40L becaue of this photo and other recomendations!

Again as far as the YQG night photo.... you will have to try something else out there in the cold? Maybe move closer? center the tower? There seems to be a lot of dead space... ie the sky and the snow at the bottom of the photo?

I hope that helps,

Grant

Thanks for the suggestion, I will leave that to my own collection then.  SmileGonna work and study, guess I will have to wait a while to re-take the photo.

Talking about that YYZ night shot, just be careful, maybe better ask for the permission first or something, Gee, those cops can be exaggerating and a bit insane some time.  Nuts

Having fun with your 17-40L? It's a superb lens.  Wink/being sarcastic

Thx again

Actually the "Cops" are just doing their job, and I must say they do it quite well around YYZ... everytime you get confronted by them they are showing that they are working on making YYZ a safe airport. I know this does go against much of our hobby, but I think we can work with them, and not against them (the "Peelers") I think things will be ok around YYZ.

Having fun... well at Christmas it was a hit i guess.... the fokes and relatives were impressed with the quality and the night shot up north at my Anut and Uncles place were amazing!!

Let me know when you are YYZ bound... seems like the DSLR count is going up and the glass is getting better around here...

I am not against them, just saying some of their attitudes aren't that nice, but anyway, I got the shot I want, so I am happy.  Wink/being sarcastic

Sure, I will let you know if I am coming to YYZ later on, maybe next time I come, most of YYZ spotters all have a DSLR and white big L lens.LOL
