I don't think it will fly on the 18th January it's just a rollout ceremony.
The ceremony will be held at 11H00 GMT+1 and broadcasted on various TVs in europe.

Moien Tom,
the 380 will not fly on 18th January, it is "just" the rollout ceremony. With all the heads of states in TLS I think security will be so strict that you won't get to see anything if you don't have an entrance ticket.

Better to stay at home and watch it on TV  Smile

Cheers,
Thomas

Is this information correct? I think I read somewhere the first two aircraft will be tested to destruction, so I assumed they would never fly.

Guess I should have done a search on Civil Aviation first. Came across the following.

I'd love to but unfortunately I don't think this is going to happen. What I really want to know is, when are we going to see it in Sydney? I think I might just take the day off work for that (along with every other Sydney based photographer, I suspect).

I know my wife is interested in visiting France so maybe I should suggest it. No reason to mention the real reason for going, of course...

as Airbus stated they won't test it unless the conditions are perfect, i don't even think Airbus themselves have set a date for the test flight.

here is the outline for the 1st of the 4 a/c.

MSN001, which completed the assembly process in May, will undertake the first test flight. it will be used for airframe and systems development and certification.

MSN004, finished in late August, it will be used for airframe and systems development and certification. These two planes are fitted with extensive flight test instrumentation.

MSN002, completed in early July, has a full cabin and will perform the early long-range flight programme with staff acting as passengers.

MSN007, completed in November, will also have a full cabin. It will undertake the traditional “route proving” campaign.

MSN 3,5 and 6 all go to Singapore Airlines, 3 is the very first for a customer and it's rego before give to SQ will be F-WWSA.

Glenn
didn't even notice that, i had an old name here which i had since about early 2003 and i can't for the life of me remember it! so i had to erstart with another name. thanks for that though, getting close to 800 shots too!

as for the trip to TLS, no chance, going to Alaska in may to shoot over at Anchorage, the A380 isn't gonna run away and i'm quite prepared to wait til she makes Australian debut!

you thinking of going over? Airbus aren't even sure that they'll fly it on the 31st, i read that it won't be flown if the weather conditions aren't perfect, so if i go over on the 30th and it rains and the weather is crap for the week i'll be very jacked off.

i'll be back over your way in april too, and keeping tabs on my mate Abby too! hehehe

With my wedding this year and other expenses, I don't think I'll be allowed to break the budget. End of last year, my lens and her ring were enough of a bank balance breaker.

I'll wait for her Australian debut.... or if I'm lucky, I might see one early 2006.
Eventually Sydney will be getting many daily given most of the airlines that are buying them, have flights into SYD.

It's the perfect long haul, high load aircraft!

god lets just wait for it to fly before anything else, it's not due for delivery to some time in 2006 so it's a while off yet! it'll undoubtedly do Sin-Lhr first up.

All,

Speaking to the MD of a company I will remain private - They have 4 tickets, for the 18th Jan roll-out. Now, Airbus are flying an A340/? to MAN to pick up these lucky guests and will have a full "glitz & glamour" affair. Selected guests have been told the aircraft (A380) wil quote infact "go down the runway, and amaze the world"... Now its not clear what this means - but you never know?

Guys, it is not even a rollout.

The aircraft is not even going to move out of the hangar, it will basically stay still in its place for the ceremony. Airbus calls it a 'reveal' ceremony.

As for the TV saying it would fly... well, that is the TV. We would know it if they ever gave out true information  Wink/being sarcastic
