Is This A Lost Case Or Can You Help Me Out Here?

This picture was rejected for badquality:

http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/rejections/big/N67058_002_ams.jpg

I am a bit sad about it because it shows so many things from AMS: rwy 06/24 (the famous Kaagbaan), the smog, the AMS "skyline", the approach lighting, the cars to show how close you can get to the action and last but not least the lines of the 767-400. It's also taken from an unusual angle not seen very often in the database for AMS.

The picture is taken in the late afternoon with 600mm.

Please help me out here, is there anything I can do to improve quality so it has a change that it gets accepted (except for resizing it to 1024, which I figured out all by myself Embarrassment)?

Thanks,

Roel.

I like the image a lot, good to see they also takeoff there, not only land  Big grin
As you said, resizing is a major thing to do, and maybe apply less sharpening on the engines, they are a bit oversharpened.

Nice image!

A nice shot indeed! I'd center the aircraft in the pic and as Flo said try not to oversharpen it. I really like the contrast, so keep going with editing  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

There seems to be noticeable JPEG compression. Look at the nose, near the cheatlines, as well as the edge of the plane. Also, there appears to be an odd band running horizontally through the sky, right above the plane, possibly caused by the compression.

Either way, it's a great shot; hopefully you'll be able to raise the quality level.

Roel,

I too like the photo - well done.

When I opened up the image large on my screen the road, cars and much of the approach lights fell off the bottom. I think the image looks great with that kind of crop, with the aircraft more centrally located.

Definitely worth another go. Good luck.

Da's een mooie plaat Roel !
Sure worth the trouble for another try, some similar to yours have been accepted already.
I was thinking about this great new place for a long time as i pass it every day on my way to work, now all members of the AMS clan have been there except me......... what a shame.  Sad

Hmm, I would say that it could be a possibility, but needs some work. Compression seems to be a bit of a problem and so does size. It also seems a little "wonky" if you look at the lamposts on the road.

Just my thoughts, great picture none-the-less.

Thanks for all the tips! I think I'll try again.

About the "wonkyness": The picture is level, the lamposts are not  Smile (I leveled against the white building in the back). I am a little bit worried about the compression though as I saved it using the highest quality and it is a RAW shot. I will do the resizing in smaller steps and see if that works.

Oh, Willem if you decide to go there, prepare to freeze your .... off as the wind really gets you there. It is muddy too (but don't we all love that).

Roel.

Good on you Roel! nice pic

But from rejection I don't think it should have been rejected but maybe try this :

Recenter A/c to left and
Maybe the cars are not wanted not enough attention on a/c

Just my 2 cents

Also try to edit all-in-on go instead of keep saving this should help on the compression.

Very nice shot Roel!
Try to edit it again and see if you can lose some of the sharpening artifacts (jaggies). It seems a little oversharpened.
cheers,
Eduard

PS, it's amazing to see how long the take-off roll of the 767-400 is every time...  Smile

Have a look at the main gear, seems like some sort of border around them.

And if you do have to save, be sure to save in TIFF format or some other format like that to help keep the quality.
