G'day
I remember seeing a topic or some posts not long ago by some of the guys who own 300/2.8's.
I am interested in seeing some shots of its performance with the 1.4 and 2x series II TC's from Canon.
I have a chance to pick up a 300/2.8 from a friend for a good price but was saving fo the 500F4 so i am interested in seeing what its like out at the 420 and 600mm mark.
Thanks
DArren

Hiya Darren,
I had the chance to rent this lens with the 1.4x TC for the Miramar Airshow back in October. I have one photo in the database with this combo. I only took about 20 total (Friday practice show and Saturday evening show. The day I planned on going to the airshow, Sunday, it rained)
I am going for the Canon 500mm F/4 L IS after I get back from deployment later this year (w/ the Canon 1.4x TC) and will pick up the Canon 2.0x TC shortly after.
I dont think one can go wrong with any of the high end 'L' Telephotos Canon offers.

I think Colin Work used the 300mm with TC, but I'm not sure - if that was the setup, he got some fantastic results with it.

If I am not mistaken, Colin owned the F/4 L IS version of the lens. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for the info guys.
I'll check out Fred's now thanks Chris.
Chad where are you going to pick up your 500 from?
B+H or somewhere else.
There price is pretty good compared with almost everywhere else in the world at not much over 5000.
Thanks
Darren

Thanks Juan.
Adorama hey i'll have to check out their website.
I gather then the service is excellent etc so it might be a good option instead of B+H.

I cannot say Adorama is better than B & H. I have heard good things about B & H too. I started buying from Adorama in '03 and have stuck with them. They have Consumer ratings on par with B & H.

He's got some great shots with the stacked converters.Truly shows you how good the glass must to get the results Ryan does with tow TC's attached.
