I'll be in Los Angeles March 2nd-6th and I'd like to check out LAX. Thought I'd see if anyone was interested and wanted to show me around. If not, could ya help me out with some good spots? How do you get to Imperial Hill? I'll be staying in Thousand Oaks, that's about all I know.

Take Sepulveda south...stay in the middle lane becuase if you're on the right lane, it exits to the freeway...after the exit to the freeware, make a next right at Imperial, watch out for californian drivers as I got in a wreck at the intersection last weekend.....keep going for another mile or so...watch your speed limit...as are cops EVERYWHERE catching speeders....You will be making a left off of Imperial, I forgot the name of the street which takes you to El Segundo....make another left for another 1/4 mile up the hill, and the little park is on your left...

In n Out is no good for photos though, it was backlit the whole time i was there! proud bird which is at the opposite end of imperial hwy is good for approach shots on 25L and R, i shot from FedEX too but i don't recommend it due to security reasons. for the 24 arrivals there is a burger king opposite the renaissance hotel which i shot from and also the top of the renaissance hotel carpark is fantastic too!
imperial hill is great, but it can get rather boring after a a day or two! you can't miss it, it overlooks the 25's and has a big US flag atop the hill!

If you visit In & Out Burger @ sunset make sure you also check out the other side of the trees... just right under the approach lights of 24 R. You should get better angle in March (with setting sun in photo probably). Here is my example from mid-Jan.

I agree, my first trip to "the hill" was awesome, the day was just too short though! The 3 hour fog delay out of Monterey had a little to do with that! I cannot wait to get out there again and try some new spots. Here are some random shots that I took, I hope I got the names right.

Awesome shots taken by surprise ... LOL ... Had a great time with you mates up on the hill also. We'll definately have to do it again but this time let leave Mr. Whitebird at home. The weather will be much better at LAX =).

Haha, thanks guys...I had a great time too, I can't wait to do it again as well! That was a fun, albeit, long day! With getting up at 4am at MRY that morning, only to find our flight was delayed 3 hours and then editing shots when we got back until about 3 in the morning, LOL Good times!
