By current standards the current Canon digital rebel - 300D has been on the market for a long time. Does anyone have any information that Canon will be introducing an upgrade or replacement for the 300D anytime soon?

I've heard that there will be a slightly downgraded though 8mp version that is supposedly the little brother of the 20D coming out (much like the current digi rebel is the little brother of the 10D). Just a rumor I've heard, I think it will be somethink like the 300DmkII but I'm not sure.

From what I heard it's supposed to be part of the Rebel Family with the name of Canon Digital Rebel TX or XT, Can't remember but I want to say that its going to be the same price as the 10D.

Just do the firmware upgrade, seach net for WASIA, it will give to 300D functions of the 10D. It will seem like a new camera.
If you don't like it reinstall 1.1.1 easy!!
A few days ago there was a flurry of posts about the new DReb II being announced at PMA, and being called the 350D, or the DReb XT in North America. Announced at PMA on something like the 18th, available in March.
About the anything they "knew" was 8MP. Selectable AF mode, too, as I recall. No mention of FEC, which is probably going to be the key spec I need to know to decide between the DReb II "XT" and the 20D. FEC is a necessity, imho.

"Just buy a Nikon D70 and voila... you're done"
yeah then just sell all the Canon accs.. and lenses etc etc etc etc ..
Doesn't quite work out that cost effective then
I think Gulfstream chose Canon for a reason
so anyway ... i haven't heard of a replacment for the 300D as yet ... i think maybe as its such a great seller with no known weaknesses as far as im aware , great quality pics easy to use .
As was mentioned maybe a firmware update BUT have a look at the upgrades in the firmware before you decide ... and be very careful when you do it .. ive heard a few dodgy stories about it

I want to thank everyone who responded to my question. VIR380 you were right on target with your observations. I did buy the 300D on Tuesday. Thanks Tony.
