Couldn't find any reason other than the fact that I didn't put a reg down, but at this angle I couldn't find one. Is there any form or way to upload if the reg is not visible or if you are not able to supply one?

Thanks for the help!

Matt

if you read the help text for the field "registration" (the one where the yellow text Update help appears  Wink ) on the upload page you will find the following:
=======
.... If your photo depicts an aircraft but you don't know the nationality and the registration, list the registration with five stars as *****. When you know the registration partly, list the details you know and fill the rest up with stars, e.g. N*****, D-A***, SE-***, PH-BD*, N5**DA, HB-JA*, 85-018*, A97-***, etc.
======

I see your photos are improving a lot, well done mate. Sorry can't help you on the reg though,  sorry  I find that if I can't write the reg down quick enough I'll try and take a shot of the rear of the aircraft, shooting the reg only, as it goes past. View the shot on the camera and write the reg down later and then delete the photo so you're not wasting Cf space.

Good luck

I normally do take a shot of the tail b/c that parking lot is a bit of a pain but I was dumpster diving so to say, and foudn this shot alone in my external so I messed around with it until I liked it. I'm limited with the fact that I have only PS Elements 2.0 with CS in the mail so my editing skills are getting better as well but until I have better software, guess again.

Now that I have you all together  Wink can you please take a look at this shot, rejected b/c it was oversharpened.

Hi Matt,

Unfortunately it wouldn't be right for me to comment on the picture's qualities (referring to your second link) as I am stealing a quick look whilst between things at work, and so not on my normal monitor.

However, one point that springs to mind is about the positioning of the aircraft in the frame. I like the fact that you have landing aircraft in the distance, but wonder whether you may also suffer with a problem due to the aircraft not being centred in the frame. There is something of an imbalance between the amount of sky beneath the plane and above - with quite a lot more above. On the original photo was it taken such that you could crop it a bit differently so as to balance those areas a bit more?

I say this because it is horrible to rework a rejected image and feel you have successfully addressed the factor for which the photo was rejected, only to find the reupload rejected for another reason.

Good luck.

Paul

Are you familiar with the ‘Duplicate Layer’
After you have levelled, cropped, and adjusted you shot, Select the magic wand and select the sky, now most times not all the sky will be selected so press and hold down the shift key and click on the parts that haven’t been selected till the whole sky is selected except the plane. Right click on the area that you have selected and on the drop down menu click on ‘select inverse’ now only the plane is selected and you can sharpen the plane only as there is no need to sharpen the sky. After that create a Duplicate layer, Layer>Duplicate Layer. Say ok to that and then do your sharpening, Unsharp Mask (USM). 50; 0.3 ; 0 Depending on the level of sharpening you need I would apply USM about three times. A lot of photogs would have different settings for USM but this is what I use and works for me. Once you have done your sharpening you then select your rubber, and you can adjust the level of opacity from 0-100%, again this will depend on how bad your jaggies are, and rub out the jaggies only. You can also rub out a bit of noise generated by the USM on the body etc. On your second photo you would rub out the jaggies on the leading edges of the stabilizer and wings.
Once you’re happy with that go to layer and flatten image, select the wand again and click on the plane again to deselect. Save with max and that should be it.

Also when you crop and resize you should keep the ratio the same as your camera, 3:2
So your photos should be 1024 x 683 or 1200 x 800

Hope that helps

PS Paul has made a good point about centering, take note!
