Hello fellow photographers!

I have a few photos that I've uploaded and am curious whether they will make it. I know these aren't the greatest threads but Im aiming to be a better photographer and there's nothing better than getting the advice of the best out there.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the quality motive and if they'll make it. If they wont I'd like to hear how I can improve them, and I can remove them from the photo queue.

THANKS a million!
SW

I don't think they will. None of them are quite sharp enough, and #2 has clearly visible dirt and is clearly not level; also the plane is too far away in the shot. #3 is clearly not level. What kind of camera are you using?

I've been using a Fuji Finepix S7000 with photoshop 7.0. I've had it for about a year now and have been uploading since then, and I've not been happy with the results. I was affraid of the verdict though...

Thanks

Any advice on fixing these photos?

Hell, it's been so long since I last uploaded a photo that I've forgotten my methods.

What ever you do, DO NOT use a straight sharpen - ALWAYS use the Unsharp Mask. If a photo comes out too dark, use the gamma correction control - NOT the brightness control!

Those were some mistakes I made back in the day - caused me mountains of frustration when I'd get rejection after rejection - and the quality standards back then were MUCH lower than they are now. So now you know - don't waste your time on those things.

I personally would recommend finding a used Nikon LS-30 scanner (or similar) and picking up a used 35mm SLR and some used but good lenses. GOOD digicams are still expensive - however, because they're rapidly gaining in popularity, the price of slide scanners is coming down - and tons of lightly used ones are popping up on ebay for a song. I personally don't intend to go digital until I really don't have a choice anymore. (IE, film production is cut and or stopped.) I'm convinced that with Fuji Provia 100F film, good lenses, and a Nikon Coolscan or other good dedicated film/slide scanner, you can get just as good as, if not BETTER results than almost any professional-level digital SLR out there, and hands-down better results than any 'consumer' digital camera on the market.

First pic is a little too far away and soft.

Second pic is too far away.

Third pic is soft and why have that cessna and people there? Kills the shot.

Buy a D70!  crazy
