SXM & SBH Photo Tips For July!

Hi!

I'll be visiting SXM from the July 22 till the 26. This is my first time, so I'm looking for tips on photography. Anything you have to say will be appreciated to make my photographic experience the best!

Also, although I'm not so sure, I want to take the SXM-SBH-SXM flight. Then stay a while in St. Barths to try to take the crazy landings. But I also need some info, on how to get to the hill to take pictures.

Well, thank you to all of you who will guide me with your valuable information. Also if someone will be there on those dates, I would like to meet him/them.

Hey!

Go to the Sunset Beach Bar; everything will fall into place as soon as you get there.

The WINAIR crew will inform you all about St. Barths. Take the front seat in the TWOTTER and they will let you shoot over their shoulders.

Ramp shots are an opportunity at SXM upon deplaning so keep your camera ready.

July is a great month; sun is good from the North side of Maho Beach but experiment. I may be around as well so keep an eye out for the geezer with the NIKONS.

Huh? You mean the Sunset Beach Bar will be gone pretty soon for construction, right? worried

But I just want to clarify about this. This fall, I am planning to fly to SXM for one week vacation.

He tried to say that as soon as you get to the SBB and drink a couple of pints, you'll be feeling fine.... and even better, with planes right above!

I went to St barths for the day from SXM in March flying with Air Caribes on their Cessna 208, this is a single pilot operation so you may get the front seat if you ask nicely. My ticket brought in advance cost GBP24. I also met Big Den who has replied above in SXM.

To top of the hill is a short walk from the terminal, just turn right as you come out the door but you may want to visit the supermarket over the road first for something to drink up there. At the top there is a large (for the island) road junction with plenty of room to stand away from the traffic. Do not stand in the cleared area between the roads in line with the runway as this is the undershoot area and the planes may be lower than your head. Another spot is on the beach at the opposite end of the runway where there is no fence. There are public roads all around the airport with lots of other wiewing points.

Some of my pictures from that visit are on jetphotos.net just search for the airport.

Don't you think he'd be an idiot if it was going to be torn down?

Caravanserai Beach Resort next door are expanding an additional 80 rooms and DUNES Casino will be opening where the DOLPHIN is now.

All airport construction is on reclaimed land north of 09/27 and if you visit the Princess Juliana Airport website you will see for yourself.

I doubt the rwy. will ever be lengthened as beaches are one of the few natural resources on St. Maarten/St.Martin
