These were all taken from my backyard earlier this month with a Canon D60 + a Sigma 170-500mm..

Worth to upload?

Maybe the last one. You can clearly make out that it's a VS A340 and it holds some good quality. Might get slammed with Baddark. Number one is good but hard to make out what airline. For those who are good with airliners its clearly a Finnair MD-11. The second one is way out of it! Has no real quality. I like the 3rd one a lot though.

Hope that helps,

Matt

The first one is definitely a Finnair MD-11. But the second I'm not sure of. It could be Virgin 340 or SAS 340 IMHO.

Hi Thomas..

The best one is the 340 but I'm afraid it would be rejected for Badquality.
Try a monopod or better a tripod if you didn't use yet.
Both camera and lens are very good. Shoot in RAW and the lowest ISO you can.

Good luck

Thomas,

Many of my recent rejections have been for contrail shots.

It has left me feeling that the standards the screeners require for inclusion on the database for these shots are very high these days. I think you need to keep that in mind when considering uploading. I would say that it is only the last of these that would stand any chance.

Cheers.

Paul

I too have been trying forever to get contrail shots accepted with no luck. I'm starting to think that it requires a pro lens. I use manual focus and simply cannot get one that looks like some of the good ones you see on the database. The closest i got was last year a B52 and recently a Northwest appeared to be sharp, I could even see the logo on the tail, but no good. I guess 300mm isn't good enough..

What do you guys think of this one

The plane is kind of small though but i cant get tighter with the 300mm lens, thats why I say that maybe it requires a 400mm or 500 pro - quality lens???
