I'd agree the more probable rejection reason is the angle of this pic. Or maybe if you can make it a little darker overall, increasing the color difference between the aircraft and the air?
Great shot though. Maybe the screeners can comment further?

It seems a little bit soft. what were the editing methods?
and I second the above poster regarding darkening. Kick the gamma back a little bit and turn the contrast up a tiny bit ONLY IF NECCESSARY as the contrast control can be rather harsh if not used sparingly.
