Well I was a TUL doing some spotting and I had 2 great surprises. One a Coast Guard Helo and a S-3B. The weather sucked but I snapped away anyways. I uploaded one of the Viking pics tonight. Do you guys think its worth trying to get it accepted or not?

Hello,

I just got a new screen so I'm adjusting but it looks oversharpened to me... Size looks good. Just my  twocents . Just for future reference, try to avoid posting your e-mail in the forums. I was told that's a big no no here but have yet to see someone get axed for it...

Thanks,

Matt

I'm no screener but it doesn't look level and looks pretty underexposed.
How much processing did you do? Doesn't look like you did much. It'll be extremely difficult if not impossible to get a photo accepted here without enough processing.
Brighten the photo up, add some contrast and color saturation and make sure it's level.

Thanks for the input. I used some USM and tried to level it but I'll try again.

Don't worry about that, I don't have any problem with people posting their uploads looking for advice.

The first one, the quality isn't there and you may get done for bad dark and bad quality.

The other two are good and should get in, good luck.

Okay, I messed around with the picture again and it was a pain in the but trying to level it. The actual airport surface is not level and if you look closely at the mail landing gear struts you can see that the S-3 is actually leaning to the left. Any suggestions would be great...here is the link to the latest reworked picture.

Oooh, no. Don't forget, it's not what the airport or the runway looks like. It's how it looks to the screeners that will get it uploaded. That is very bad level. I was just having a look at the original one you posted, and it looks odd. The ground doesn't look level but the plane does. Have a look at the bottom of the screen and notice how a runway line slowly goes from the bottom right of the screen and disappears towards the bottom left. Yet the plane looks to be level. Try using the grid in PS and see if everything lines up. Add some color, contrast and a bit of brightness. Looks to be a dull day though and hopes remain a little low as to whether it will get accepted.

You should probably go with leveling the picture according to the correct level position, not correcting for the leaning of the aircraft. I'm pretty sure that if you keep that picture in, it will get rejected for badcameraangle.

EDIT: Haha, CallMeCapt, you beat me to it.  Smile

Spartan, email me using my profile and I will email you a fixed up version of your photo. I've levelled the ground for you and fixed the plane a bit.

Sorry Harry

I really appreciate your help guys...I really want this pic to get accepted because this was probably the last flight for this S-3B as it stopped at TUL before heading to Davis-Monthan. I originallly tried leveling with Runway & taxiway but then the aircraft looked unlevel. I've never had so much trouble trying to level a picture.

I just tried again. I will work on the color/contrast later, my main focus is leveling.
