Arrrgh!

So I've had a few shots in the queue, and a couple are getting close to being screened. Being the noob that I am, I have to look at them nearly every day to see if--just maybe--the screeners all decided to put their real lives on hold in order to get to my stuff. They're reasonably good shots, so I get more and more excited as the magic day draws closer.

Then I see it--that bane of digital shooters everywhere. The dust spot. And it's a big as a house.

Actually, I'm pretty sure there's two here: one immedately above the "E" in the titles, and another in the upper left corner? Am I hallucinating this, or do y'all see it, too? Believe it or not, this is the first problem I've had, so I'm not super-experienced at spotting these things.

Needless to say, I pulled the two offending shots. But now I'll have to wait it out again when I get around to developing this new editing skill. Anyone else ever get near the front of the line before spotting a fatal flaw? Do we get karma points for deleting the photos, at least?

Grumble, grumble...
-Leanne

Easy to miss, and usually pretty straightforward to remove with the clone or healing tool.

Don't worry about it.

I see four spots. One top lef corner, two above fuselage and one under the engine.

Hi Leanne,

Yep - I agree with Staffan - I see 4 too, but the key one is that large one above the fuselage. I don't think that one would have got past a screener, so I think you saved yourself a rejection there.

I opened up your photo in PS and went to Image - Adjustments - Equalize and that enables such things to be seen pretty easily. If you have access, it's a good step to have when you edit the photos, as dust spots are an inevitability at some point or other. Thankfully they are easy to deal with once you spot them. I still have a stubborn one I need to clone out despite the fact that I have cleaned my sensor (I think it is a mark left by moisture, rather than dust).

If you need any more help with that just let me know.

PHOTO SCREENER

Hey Saxy

Yes, I have spotted the dust but better for you to pull than get a reject for it.

Use the Equalise function of Photoshop to spot the dreaded little critters and then erase them. All will be well.

Regards

Gary
