Hello,
tomorrow morning I'll be on my way to Ottawa again. Last time (NOV 04) I didn't have any time at YOW but this time I hope to get 1 or 2 hours there on 26/27 May. My main interest are the 727's operating in Ottawa, i.e. First Air's YFB services but maybe also some freighters?
Anyone out there who can give me some directions where to get some nice 727 action shots?

Thomas although we have been there we didnt see any 727 in action Maybe it was bad luck. we saw 2 parked in front of the first air hangar and one on the other end of the airfield parked. 2 of those without engines .

Peter,
Well, there is definitely the daily First Air service to YFB (the one I took in November), operated by either the 727-100 or -200 Combi. Plus I saw the freighter there in November, so with a little bit of luck, I might get one

Hello Thomas,
You took some wonderful shots around YFB last fall. If you have any more shots that are not of a.net quality, I'd love to see those too...been to YFB several times myself. YFB is 727 & 737 classic heaven (and Hawkers too for a little while longer).
As for spotting at YOW. From the terminal building follow the signs for Alert Road, which is right by the First Air hangar.
As for 727 action, 7F's YFB pax flight departs at 0905 daily, the freighter leaves between 1200 and 1230. On Sundays 7F flies a charter to VRA at around 0930. FedEx, CargoJet & Purolator all leave late in the evening, but FedEx leaves at around 2030, so it should still be light out at this time of the year for that. 7F arrives at around 1630, except on Wednesdays & Saturdays when they arrive at around 2210.
If you're an early bird, you might want to visit the airport near dawn to see the freighter arrivals. Purolator comes in at around 0550, CargoJet's in at about 0800, followed closely by FedEx at around 0815.

Andrew,
Thanks for your reply and email as well as for your kind words about my YFB pics. I still have a lot of them, some might even be a.net quality, but had no time yet to process more of them. Re the Hawkers, yes, apparently 7F has to keep them for a while for the YXP route...so a next trip is already planned
Even though I am normally just the opposite of an early bird, the 6 hours time difference will definitely help me there, so I am seriously considering to go for these flights! Do you need a ladder for YOW photos?
