Maybe I am bored tonite - but I thought I would look up the photos on this site that were taken near the time I entered this crazy world - November 1961. Only one photographer had photos in this time frame. Here are a few of his shots... My oh my - time does fly...

DC7 freighters, CPAL DC8's, Super Connies, Comets... this brings back memories of my first spotting experiences back in 1963 on the perfect viewing terraces at old Amsterdam-Schiphol (now Schiphol-East). There were also lots of Convair Liners

I would like to thank you all for the comments I have received over the last year, about my photos. I am sorry to say I do not sell photos. I have posted my slides on airliners.net, to let all of you see some of the history you may have missed otherwise. I have received over 600 Emails in the last year, with many stories and wishes for information. With changing addresses happening to frequently and computer problems to tame, I am sorry if everyone did not get a reply. I hope any who are interested have seen my photo book series called Skyliners. With George Hamlin's narrative, a combined effort and with John Wegg's editing. Many thanks to all who have made this series a success so far...See Airways magazine for details..
Enjoy and Thanks again; Mel Lawrence

I have all three books of the Skyliners series, and they are definitely among my favorites. Not only Mel's excellent photograpy, but the layout, text, research and information provided are outstanding.
Mel, I do have a question regarding this one-off LH scheme which I've never seen before. Is it an experimental tail logo or just the blue color missing?

I would also like to express my appreciation for Mel Lawrence's photography--particularly for his photographs from Lindbergh Field from the era of classic jetliners.

To answer the questions;
I didn't take any interior shots of the AC.
The Lufthansa paint scheme was a variation to the scheme in use, perhaps rushed back into service before it was finished. Skyliners4 is at the publishers please encourage Airways to get it in print..Thanks
Mel

Hi
Skyliners4 will contain MATS charter flights at Tachikawa AFB in 60-61. Then back to the US to catch international carriers and some US from the west to the east coast,ending back at IDL, where Vol.1 started...
Hope everyone enjoys it, as soon as Airways gets it in print...
