What's the news on this? I and a bunch of others have applied to help. Is it because Johan is still away from his servers so that he can make the necessary modifications? If so, when can we expect them?

Just asking...

Charles

Hi Charles

The new procedure is now in place and working as of today.

Over the next few days you will begin to see a great reduction on the number of shots waiting to be uploaded.

Well, it appears to be starting. The queue has dropped by about 40 or 50 pics in the last hour or so.

Gary can you give an idea of how many shots are not acceptable? I mean ones that are thrown out straight away not borderline cases. I think this could be an interesting figure by the sounds of things.

Thanks

Paul

Yeah, i suspect there are probably alot of people who really haven't got a clue and go out to the airport with their 35mm point and shoot camera, come back with a print and a blurry aircraft only filling 1/4 of the frame Big grin

I have a slight suggestion to add to the new system.

When the photo's are being uploaded they are automatically formatted like they are on the database after being accepted and then say a team of 5 photographers each rate whether the pic should be accepted and accepted. The ones with 5 rejections and 0 acceptions, and 4 rejections and 1 acceptions should get rejected, the ones with 5 acceptions and 0 rejections, and with 4 acceptions and 1 rejections should be kept.

The photographs with 3 rejections and 2 acceptions, and 2 rejections and 3 acceptions should be given to Johan to decide which are accepted and which rejected.

This means there is a reduction in wrong dicisions, elimination of biasisms (if there was any anyway), the queue goes down quicker and Johans work load will be dramatically reduced so he can concentrate on Updating the site, finding sponsers and banner ads and also sources of income.

Well, its just a suggestion!

Keep up the good work Big grin

Regards, Dan

Indeed the number of photos ahead of me is going down while no photos are added. A clear sign of uploads being kicked out in the prescreening process.
Good to see some progress!

Konstantin

Just for fun or was it because i was bored  Wink/being sarcastic I made a note of the images in the queue.

Yesterday at 17.05 local there were 5039 in total 3474 in front of me and 454 photographers in front of me.

Today at 09.05 local there were 4523 in total 2812 in front of me and 365 photographers in front of me.

No pictures have been added to the site so thats quite a clear out.

Paul
