Hi,

Few weeks ago I bought a Nikon D70, and last Tuesday, taking the opportunity of a travel to Panama, I bought the Rebel XT [D350].

Great camera the D70, but at this time, I want to hear from some of you about your experiences from the D350, that I don't use yet [I'm less than an amateur in this field, and I'm in the process of trying to learn how to use it].

Thanks in advance to all of you!

I have an XT and it works great for me. Pretty much all my pics are shot with it. I also have the Canon 75-300mm lens, the non IS one which considering its price tag works just fine.

I have had the 350D for the past month or so.

So far Excelent camera, Not had any problems at all. Well worth the £££.

Is it somehow cheaper in Panama that it would be in the US? How much did it cost you if you don't mind me asking?

B

Of course you can ask!

I think it's cheaper [at least than Miami or Florida].

I bought mine at Panafoto. Another advantage it's than you can [I don't know the correct word in English] "deal" the price. My D350 cost me [brand new] $899,oo, plus an additional lens 75/300 III something [ultrasonic, but not the IS] $200,00. They gave for free a 128 Compact Flash Card [Lexar] and I bought another one of 1G for $85,oo. The sales tax is 5%.

And thank YOU for the answer.

[Sorry, but the link seems to be in Spanish only. Nevertheless English language is widely spoken in Panama]

Sorry. The card I got for free is SandDisk not Lexar. The camera came with a EF-S 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens, and I bought an additional one EF75-300
mm f/4-5.6 III USM.

Start with a 75-300mm f4.5-5.6 III USM. Consumer's lens but after time it will give you a feeling for how to use your camera. After a few months upgrade. With your set up you should do fine. Though I hear a 50mm 1.8 is a nice add on for less than $100. And the word would be "negotiate."

Take care,

Matt

Completely idle curiosity, but why did you buy a D70 and a 350D? (I've actually been pondering the purchase of a second hand D100 myself for a little while)

Most of the people at A.net have a Canon or a Nikon. As a said I am less than an amateur in this field, so I want to try both an see the results [stupid logic I know].

I just want to see both working. And how bad I am using both...

[And call please stupid twice, because I also bought a Kodak X7590 and a Canon Power Shot Pro I].

http://www.keh.com will give B&H a run for their money in terms of price. Last I checked they had it in stock.

Take care,

Matt
