Hi,

I know there some heat haze but given the unusual circumstances this was it.

I wonder if this airliners.net worth it?

Shot- close up

Will pull it if not worth it.

My previous ones are waiting for Johan to check out.

Thanks for your time

Eksath

Eksath,
They look too hazy which is sadly unrepairable. IMHO, this is one is better off in your personal collection or on myaviation.

Rotate it to the right just a tad and go for it. I see no reason why what was probably the last launching of the space shuttle shouldn't get in even if there are a few flaws.

Hi all

If not Space Shuttle, maybe get closer in 25 years or so for the flights of Skylon.

Ahh, anyone remember the proposed British space plane HOTOL?

Gary

Thanks all fo the feedback.

yeah, Florida heat haze is a bitch Plus engine/SRB heat. At 3 miles out and 10:30 in the morning nothing more i could do.

Regards getting close, The only folks ahead of me were the rescue and close out crew. Also, these gentlemen had input on the matter AND I did not want to become barbecue.

Hi Suresh

I know you cannot get any closer.

A real pity as the image is fantastic apart from the blur  Sad

What does it sound like? Must be an awesome roar I guess?

Actually the cool part is the intial firing of the engines for me. Out of the stillness, of the morning, the three engine ehausts hit the water from the noise sepression system and Poof...huge water wapor clouds bellows out...and as they grow..the shuttle starts rocking and a huge flame starts at the bottom..and grows and she climbs out and everything around her disappears into smoke and flame...AND then the Sound-a dull roar- which steadily increases hits us..Sounds like clear air thunder..My camera lens is busy trying to focus with all the vibrations. I can hear the motor clicking. People are are going crazy around me. Everyones cameras are clicking away. I am just clicking away and then she climbs and rolls-really draamatically- and before i know it she is showing the rear of her external tank and solid rocket boosters to me- and she just accelerates with a gentle arch - and then she is gone- no sound. All that remains is smoke. Lots of smoke...the wind catches it and it slowly drifts away. Man, there was sooo much smoke.

I will post the sequence of hots here so u get the idea. The sound part was impressive but the visual dynamics was definetly the coolest.... The most impressive machine in flight, i have ever shot
Below are some pictures from the hanger as she got ready to fly. enjoy.
