Guys I've noticed on other threads that you're being very relaxed when you use the "screener" username. Let me tell you that that attitude doesn't help to your credibility as screeners. Behind every screener there is a normal person who likes to laugh and tell some jokes but please, don't try to be funny when you post as a screener because as time goes by it will ruin your image. When you're here as screeners please be serious and strict to your function in this site, when you want to talk about other things and be funny then use your normal usernames. If you continue with this private jokes and funny profiles no wonder why some people think you're fake screeners.
I appreciate your work and I've followed some of your advices on some rejected photos, I'm giving my feedback as you requested on other thread.

hehe.. humours great.
Maybe it might be a good idea if the screeners do keep a close watch on theirselves and take what Luis had just said a little seriously.

Seriousness and humour should learn to be friends. I do know , however, the mix should be dealt with tastefully. And as far as I had seen, IT HAD BEEN... hence the post I put up on "screeners".
But then again, everyone has an "outlook" on the way things should be. May the "Force" be with both the majority and the minority. And may they both prosper...

I've nothing against humour. On April fools day I posted here a message saying that I was quiting aviation photography and starting to shoting cars. This post was deleted, even on April fools day!!!
I hope nobody here is acusing me of trying to be the bad guy, if the screeners want to continue with private jokes and funny profiles, you'll see the results in 3, 4 monthes.
I'm nobody here to tell how people should behave, I'm just giving my feedback.

Luis - I think that being a screener here is less funny than some of us might think. Imagine 100s of new pics every day to "screen" (=download) - means expenses, explanations, responsibility, and for sure lots of time. Why not giving them a little freedom, lets say for recreational purpose.
I haven't seen any superficial or high-handed, or what some feared, selfish or stuck-up posts so far. They do their job, they do it voluntary and I for one would even wish they could ADD pictures to the database. Because they do it well.
What's left for Johan to approve is pretty sure also worth enough (at least it can't hurt) to be shown to the public.
I like the Screeners! Did I tell you they never rejected a pic of mine?

Administrator please delete this thread, sometimes I feel I'm speaking in chinese, people doesn't want to understand or don't care to read with attention. I never told it is funny to be a screener!

You might find this strange, but I disagree. This thread should absolutely have been started, because as screeners we DO want feedback. However, we would like this to be constructive. If you feel that using humor in our posts and profiles is a bad thing, you should say so. Otherwise, we could be upsetting people and not know it (though I really don't feel I need to tell you to complain if you don't like something - this forum has a long and glorious history of people speaking their minds)
We the screeners are on a steep learning curve at the moment, although I think we are all (us and you) getting used to the idea of pre-screening. And the lack of any new posts proclaiming a terrible injustice because the screeners have rejected somebody's perfectly good pics suggests that we are, in the main, getting things right.

Screeners should command respect as they now make up the fabric of this great site. They now speak for airliners.net as an entity by offering their comments and suggestions - both in their individual replies to contributors as well as in the forums. Since quality, not quantity, is at stake I believe that screeners' responses and behaviour in their official capacity should mirror this quality that airliners.net has come to represent.

English is not my natural language so I'm always in risk of not being clearly understood. I'm happy that Sonic99 had understood my point.
The point is not the screneers using humour or not, the point is the screneers act in the name of Airliners.net. This adds some responsability and to backup this responsability they should act like an "head of state". Now they're official representatives of Airliners.net, this is the point to think about. I'm sorry but I don't know how to explain better what I'm thinking in portuguese. Behave as you like, if you don't agree with me, fine.

I hope I did not say things here that would make Mirage feel like a "bad guy". If I did - I am sorry. I respect his contributions to this site very much. Mr. Faro's photos speak for themself. His photos are VERY GOOD. I was simply speaking of humor and seriousness and I believe life can be very good if these two behaviors are in balance. By the way, I think he types very understandable in the english language. Don't know about his "chinese"...

Luis,
I understood you too and you brought a point across.
Yes I am 100% with you that the topic was good to be started as I am a little irrated with the profiles of the sreeners as well.
I have no problem with humor up to a certain degree, but in an environment which is growing more and more into a professional site humor should be left alone or at least put in the right place.
Their work is certainly not easy and we have to be thankful that they offer their spare time to all of us, nonetheless they should take their job seriously so should be the profiles.

The post wasn't against Luis, it was against 2000+ pics in the queue -- helpers are available and qualified enough to ADD clearly acceptable pics to the database as they are able to reject inappropriate pics.
This is to relieve a hard working man, our Admin. Personally I do fully respect the screeners cause I understand their jokes, but also the ability to switch back to seriousness when it comes down to facts, in their job here.
What you fear is that they make themself ridiculous, right? Not after this thread.
After all I still wonder why nobody dares to say "YES, probably it would help A.net when the sceeners could also ADD pics and leave the *real* bordercases up to the Admin to give him more room for vital problems and visitors fresh pics".
