I'm guessing I still have a lot to learn about Airliners.net standards. I don't understand the bad quality in this:

http://www.airliners.net/procphotos/..._A346_B-6050_LAX25RDep2_100705.jpg

Can anybody help me out?

I want to make sure that the next time I get a side-on shot of an A346 with condensation and contrails in the sun that I meet the quality standards of this site.

Thanks,

Looks to me like a heathaze/jaggy problem. The cheatline, where the fuselage meets the sky and the leading edge of the tail look like they're made of Lego.
That's my first impression...

Phil,

Nice shot. I really like it.

What I think the problem is here is that notice the stripes on the aircraft and the fuselage? They seem to have jaggies. Others may be able to shed some more light on this tho.

Once again, nice pic.

Phil,
The exposure is inconsistent from the front to the back, and from the top to the bottom. It has a dirty feel to it for some reason.

Not all of us get to shoot in the clean air of the Rockies  Wink . You said the same about my photos from LA, and I think the air is just dirty. There are many layers of smog. Anyway Phil I agree with the cheatlines, a lot of my Imperial shots came out the same way.

Hi Phil

Just another thought.

Too much Jpeg compression resuluts in soft / rough edges resulting in bad Qual.

If this is the case, upload your 1024 shot with no Jpeg compression.

It was at 1024 and was saved at maximum jpeg quality.

Hehe, Denver's air is pretty bad some days, but it doesn't hold a candle to the LA Area. The smog there is unbelievable, and you get a perfect view of it from Imperial Hill.
