Hi,
Could anyone help me to find out the registration code of an AA plane?
That plane is a MD-80, I think; and on the larboard fuselage, near nose area, there is a code, "4XE" (sorry, I do not know what this code is called). By the way, may someone tell me what that code is, and what to inquire the registration based on that code?

American Airlines MD-83 (DC-9-83) registration is N9618A. It's an ex-TWA bird.

Actually, I think it's a "Fleet Number" but could be wrong. At least you have the correct registration now which is important when you upload the photo.

That sounds right. Some airlines just use the first three numbers of the registration, while some others, like the one above, have nothing to do with the registration and are arbitrarily given by the airline.
