I have many slides that I would like to scan and try to get posted on here. My question is that I have no idea how to scan a slide although I see many a.netters do it. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a slide scanner of some sort ?
If so, what model and I will try to help you through it.

This probably won't scan slides. Some of the better, and of course, more expensive scanners will scan slides but the best results will come from a dedicated film or slide scanner. Have a look at the products from Nikon (Coolscan) or Minolta,( Scan Elite) and expect to dig pretty deep into your pocket.
Flatbeds such as the Epson 4990 and Canon 9900 will also do the job.
