I can't help but notice my photo has been the top of the photographer's choice for almost a week now... How long do they typically stay there? I thought the votes were counted twice a day? Surely it can't have won that many days in a row?

As long as it receives the most votes it'll stay up there (AFAIK). Actually, I don't really know the formula but I expect they stay in the selection for around 30 days? Or at least until other photos begin to receive more votes.. There's probably a thread explaining it somewhere.

I don't think he is complaining. You better not be or I will come through this computer and strangle you! On a side note, how many times do you guys vote in a week? I only vote if the photo is really great, and even then I sometimes forget. Maybe 1 time per week or so. Is it that the photo is winning out against all others every day, or is it a lack of voting until they see another shot that is significant like that? Just food for thought. BTW Tim, did the other ever make it in?

Nope, got the "bad motive" boot. I am thinking of redoing the editing on it and trying again. I actually thought it had a better chance than the one that got in. Then again, what do I know, my acceptence rate has gone down the tubes lately. At least I give the screeners something to do without uploading too many obvious rejects.
As for the top photo thing, it says that the votes are counted every 12 hours... That is why I was wondering. It did get alot of comments so I guess alot of people really liked it.
Oh yeah, definetly not complaining, that photo got a ton of hits. I am well over a million, just closing in on the 1000 uploads.

I vote pretty much everyday when Im looking thru. I like to let the other photographers know that I appreciate their work. The shots have been great lately.

When it first came out I voted every day too. Lately though, that ad with the talking smileys and the flying ninja from circuit city has just been too much for me and I haven't been looking at the photos too much. I know ads are needed, and I can live with that but when they start preventing you from using the site as intended they obviously have gone too far.
Now let the replies about first class membership start.

Quoting ChrisH (Reply 10): Contributing photographs should be enough. Paying for it... nah
I am not really even saying that. Sometimes I like to kick back and just browse the database looking at photos but lately I don't find myself doing that because of ads that take the fun out of it.
I am not saying that photographers should get free first class memberships at all. In fact I think a great portion of the users are the photographers. I am just saying that the ads that jump off the page, and make all kinds of sounds have no place here on what is supposed to be the home of the best aviation photos on the net. If ads are what keeps the site going and makes it worth it for Johan, that is fine but don't use the ads that run people off and prevent them from using the site.
I can only imagine some poor guy at work browsing the web and all of a sudden gets the talking ads on his page or maybe another co-worker walks by his desk and gets offended that he is looking at a site that has half naked women showing off their goodies to get a click. What is he supposed to say, "oh look at this airplane picture next to the naked girl bent over, nice shot huh?"
