Carry-on Friendly Camera Bags?

Does anybody know which of the larger Tamrac bags are able to be carried onboard the aircraft? I have a Tamrac 613, and am wondering if I'm going to have to switch it out in favor of my smaller System 6 as a carry-on. Specifically, does anybody have any experience trying to fit a bag of this size under the seat in aircraft (CRJ economy seats--I'd imagine these will be the limiting factor)? Thanks.

So far I have not had any problem taking my LowePro Specialist 85AW onto the plane. It fits all my camera stuff. I can pin it under the seat in front of me, but it makes legroom a bit cramped. When I have a windowseat I will do that and when it's dark outside I'll just stow it overhead.

Edit: just checked the Tamrac 613... Hmm, that's a pretty big bag! I don't think you can put that under the seat. The System 6 is similar sized to the Lowepro 85 AW I use.

Just finished my trip back home, and I can confirm that the 613 does indeed fit underneath the seats (even in a CRJ-700). It'll of course fit in the overhead bin of mainline aircraft, but won't fit in the bin on an RJ. With it under the seat, however, legroom can be a bit cramped (especially on an RJ), as it is basically as long as the seat is.

The Lowepro Minitrekker holds all my stuff and fits very nicely under the seats of the Dash-8 (which has the smallest space I've yet to come across).

I hope a Mini Trekker would fit! I bring a Nature Trekker AW II and it fits, but it won't fit under a seat if I also have my Sony TX650 with me (micro laptop) as the edge of the laptop catchs under the seat.

Just a little info on bags, if you ever go to sporting events (as a fan). Don't use a backback or a shoulder bag even a small one. You will not be allowed in.

I know it is not a aviation thing.

Good info, though, as I'd imagine that a fair number of people on here are also photography enthusiasts in general (not just with aviation). I, for one, also shoot sports for my school newspaper (though not technically as a fan).

Heh, believe it or not, the Tamrac Cyberpack 6 will fit under the seat or and ERJ and CRJ7. I had some nervous moments in the terminal before the flights hoping it would fit! Don't wanna have to gatecheck about 5K worth of equipment! Big grin You uh, kinda lose legroom though!  Wink

Very cool shot Royal....how do you get your gear in? The way we snuck the 70-200 2.8 IS into Mcaffe in OAK, you'd think we were trying to steal something! lol

I carried it in the backpack I described above, didn't even have to flash the Press Pass.
