Hi all,

I've racked up substantial rejects lately all for quality, so I need some help from you "eagle eyes" out there.

Admittedly, I'm not working with the best monitor. It's old and small, but it is color corrected and I've got to make it work for a few more months until I can get a 30 inch apple monitor. Hopefully you all will be able to see what I can't.

I absolutely hate doing this so please look at the following shots and just tell me what you see. I'm not looking for whether or not you like the shot, rather let's work together to see if we can break this "quality" reject secret code.

To all the screeners who take the time to add personal comments about why exactly a shot was rejected for "quality", I thank you! Honestly, this "quality" reject is the most all encompassing, non-descriptive, and nebulous reason on A.net.

May I make an appeal to screeners? If you're going to take the time to look at the shot anyway, take the time to say why you specifically rejected it for quality rather than us guys burning more bandwidth in the forums trying to decode your reasoning. It's not a complaint - just a suggestion that would really help some of us.

Okay, having said that, may I present to you some "quality" rejects:

Be honest, but be kind  Smile
Thanks for the help,

Brett

Hi Brett,

1) Colors looks weird, a lots of light.
2) Blurry
3) It's not sharp enough.
4) Jagged, look for the Lufthansa titles.

That contrail is wicked. Filename says 330? =) Try uploading as 1024 height and isolate and sharpen only the plane and trails, not the sky.

what seems to be the officer, problem?

perhaps also apply some noise reduction on the sky itself.
The motive is stunning. For sure try to get this in in 1024 res. !

Along with the above mentioned critiques, I see a lot of grain in them, and the last one is far too saturated. I'd recheck that calibrated monitor.

Been addressed numerous times in the past.

Thank you all for your help so far. It looks like I may really be hampered by my monitor here as you've all said the same things and I just can't see it here on my end. I'm going to borrow a better monitor to see if I can see what you are seeing.  Smile

Hi Brett.

I think Kar-lok and Jeff have it right for all the photos.

I also agree that the contrail shot is very striking; if you fancy a second opinion regarding editing on that one - or any of the others for that matter - feel free to get in touch and I will have a go and send them back to you.

All the best.

Paul

1: overexposed. Dont know if theres any way to fix it.

2: Good photo, but overall the plane is too soft. No way to fix that.

3: sharpen it a tiny bit more, crop the plane tighter with a little less of the contrail and re-uplaod it. Lots of potention in this one.

4:Dont really know what to say about this one, its a really good photo.

As Jeff said, been discussed many times and it would be very helpful if this would happen more often but sadly it does not so until it does, keep clogging up the forums.
