Well with Christmas approaching its that time of the year again.
With people wizzing off on holidays in a week or so know seems like a good time to kick off with your favorite shot you took for 2005.
Only one shot please and if there is a story attched feel free to give some background as to why its your favorite that you took for the year.
Here's mine.
My first day out with the new Bazooka started off badly as it was pouring rain in Tokyo but little did i know how much great vapour action that very rain/drizzle would generate that morning.
Later that day the weather cleared into a magnificent afternoon allowing some great runway end shots from Sakura no Yama park.
I had me best ever day of photography that very day with my brand new lens and some spectacular weather in what is now my favorite airport in the world,
Narita!

Wow, great pics guys!
As I just started with aviation photography this year, I have a few personal milestones I really like (including one that was "Top of last 24 hours" - damn I was proud... )
But my personal best has to be this one I took during the memorable Airbus family day:
By the way, thanks to all that gave me hints and advices on how to take and rework photos, I really learned (and am still learning) a lot from you guys!

this would be one my favourites..i have a load more that are in need of editing, i've had the fortune of seeing a fair amount of aviation overseas this year, did Canada and USA twice and will return again in a few weeks.
Whilst sitting on the flight awaiting our departure I could hear a fellow Anet Photographer snapping out of the window on the other side of the Airbus A320.
Thinking to myself I was missing out on a lot of stuff.
We then started to turn on to the runway and was rewarded with a massive queue line up............what a sight to see.

Probably this does it for me..... Incredibly strong winds provided for some interesting approaches and even more interesting touchdowns!! This SAS 343 looked as if it would sheer the MLG columns off at first, especially when the aircraft was lined up on the runway! The setting Sun brought out perhaps a few more details in this shot too, that made it IMO my favourite this year.
Nothing extraordinarily special about the photograph itself, but I had been trying to catch the depicted aircraft for more than two years or since I started spotting, so that day was special for me!
Regards,
-Omar S.
Never tell your girlfriend about all the 'action' you're getting at the airport - only photogs understand that.

Not quite my highest hitter, but my favourite of the year:
I was on a business trip in Mexico City. Normally I would have flown home on Friday afternoon, but when I heard that some local a.netters (Luis, Ricardo) and a well-known contributor from Spain (Javier) planned to take early morning shots on Saturday, I extended my stay by one day. We had lots of fun that day, and this photo put the icing on the cake for me

Hello
nice idea.
This one would be mine, we have a fair amount of military go arounds at Aberdeen, so its always the hope that I get a tornado or nimrod going around while I'm there. I was standing next to the approach lights, I saw in the distance this small dot on final approach, then it pealed off about 6 miles out or so, during the bank I saw it was a nimrod and I was like 'you b@$tard!' luckily, 10 minutes later, I see this big tan aircraft coming back onto final approach with huge plumes of smoke pouring out the back and I was like woo! And I managed to get a great series of shots as it glided past me then powered out over the runway. Fantastic

Hum Darren, pretty difficult to choose only one shot...
I'd say 2005 was a great year for me. I went spotting in a few places and met some really great people. I've been upgrading my camera equipment as well and I sure improved my photography skills.
For those reasons a few shots of mine have incredible value to me so I had a hard time finding "the" one...
... mainly because I love the atmosphere in the shot. Setting sun, reflections, beacon light, and of course, the only regular Jumbo visiting CYUL, all made for a great shot to me.
Besides, happy holidays to all of you, and I wish you all the best for the year 2006.

I was busily photographing on the ramp at Sharjah when I glanced over my shoulder and realised that I almost missed this one, in my mind a great photo that happens to be of aircraft.
