We've seen your best of year. Time to select the overall best a.net photo of 2005. Rule 1: You can't pick one of your own. Rule 2: Tell why you like it.

I've gone through everyone's favorite shot on that thread. Here's my pick:

To me, Adam's shot captures enormous speed and action mixed with great lighting. A perfect shot.

241.000 photos were added this year... That's too much to choose from. I've seen so many nice pictures (screening), but I forgot about so many nice ones aswell...
Can I pass this question?  Smile

Superb detail in a difficult light and the added bonus of the moon background.

Pfff, really tough topic.

As said before, there are so many great photos here, uploaded this year.

But, since i have to pick one:

I like it because it´s an unusual perspective and features a condensation effect i haven´t seen before on a beluga. Plain and simple composition, just great.

By the way:

a big "Thank You" to all photographers, keep those nice photos coming,

merry X-mas and a happy new year,

Denis

That's it! You people have stood in my way long enough. I'm going to clown college!

Very difficult decision....
Surfing again in the last 365 days photos I've found one shot that caught my attention.
I'm even wondering how he managed to get this....
My congratulations to Baldur for his work.
It was a photo uploaded this year, so I think is a valid one

For me personally, this is the excitement of airliners.net. The absolute stunning quality of modern digital SLRs has become rather overly familiar in the past couple of years (again, I am talking personally).

I get really excited when I see images unlocked from people's historic collections and I am indebted to them for allowing me a window on what they observed. There are so many experiences which are now no longer available (seeing Lightnings fly together in squadron formation, for instance) so these shots bring great value to our database. OK, misty-eyed nostalgia over!  Smile

Or in short, I love this shot!

Tough choice and that's from among the ones I've seen. But I'd go with this one. Shot Sep 04 but uploaded Mar 05.

EDIT: Well timed, well framed, great vantage point. This photo is also an excellent memorial to a very distinctive aircraft which was retired from active service this year.
