Hello everyone, i kno this isnt ALL related to aviation photos but some is.

For christmas i recieved an Olympus Stylus 600 digital camera and a xd m256 memory card along with it. The next day i went to london and while i was there i did some spotting at Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton. I came home today and i discovered that the card needed to be formatted, i tried that on my computer yet it said that the disk is write protected, i also tried it through the camera itself yet it still didnt work. What else can be done.

Hi Sean,

I'm sure when I used an Olympus digital camera I never formatted any XD card.

Have you successfully taken some photos with the camera? If so, get them downloaded before you attempt to format the card, as the process will erase everything.

Tim.

Obviously missing something....

Have you tried flipping the switch? Don't they have the lock like SD? If so, it is in write protect.

I have several XD cards and they don't have a write protect switch. I can only format mine in the camera. I have XP on my p.c and it won't format them. There may be a setting on the camera to protect pictures from being deleted, you may need to disable this feature before it will allow you to format.
Regards
Mark

Hi.

Quoting Apollo13 (Thread starter):

Had this problem with my Olympus XD 512MB card yesterday. Used it the second time. First time I had no problems. But yesterday I put her in the Card reader and got only 3 pics downloaded till the Computer said CRC-Error or something. Now when I try to open the XD reader I have to format the card. The same when I want to view the pics on the camera 1. Format card 2. Switch off

Never had any problems before with my other XD-Cards 16/128/512MB. And I'm very unhappy with this as I go on vacation tomorrow. So if they won't take it back I have to buy a new one. Glad the flight starts in the evening.

There is no switch

Have no option on my C-750 or never found it.

Georg.

Hi.
I'm just back form the store where I bought the card. It wasn't even possible to format it in the Camera - seems to be the card is damaged. Got a new one after some problems and long minutes waiting. HOpe this one is better.
Georg.
