Hi everybody....

I cannot open Canon Raw (CR2) file in Photoshop CS2. Error message is "File is not Right type".

What could be the problem?

Regards

Nirmal

Hi Nirmal,
First copy all the .cr2 files using Canon's EOSViewerUtility. You may have to drag the whole folder to your system local drive. Then open the cr2 files from the copied folder from CS2. Should open without any flaw. This is how I edit raw files. If it still gives you the same error, try opening the cr2 files with "RawShooter essentials 2005" (A freeware). If the same problem persists, I guess the cr2 files may have been corrupted.

Hope this helps you.
Regards,
Vasanth

Have you tried Adobe Bridge? I view all my shots through that and open each one as I need.

Make sure you've installed the most recent RAW update from Adobe.

I think the new RAW update only has updates to support new cameras like the Canon 5D. Functionality wise I think it would be the same.
Nirmal's camera is a Rebel XT and CS2 supports this camera right after the product installation. But of course no harm is trying the new update.
